Have just returned from a fantastic week-long stay at BE Hollywood, which was the perfect base from which to explore Buenos Aires. It's in the very safe Pamermo Hollywood district where there are plenty of bars and restuarants all within walking distance. The hotel staff couldn't have done more to be helpful. They were happy to give advise on places to see, how to get around, where to eat etc, and they booked up a couple of trips for us - one to see a Tango show and one to explore Tigre. Both went off without a hitch, although the Tigre experience was a bit odd as it involved a lot of driving around in a car with a bloke who wasn't very communicative! Also, it would have been helpful to know that, in both cases, the people running these trips prefered payment in cash and ideally in US dollars (it brings prices down considerably if you take US dollars with you!). Apart from being generally helpful, the hotel staff were also really kind and thoughtful. It was my birthday while we were there and when they found out they arranged a special surprise - beer and nibbles delivered to our room as a pre-dinner treat. Thank you Martine, for that lovely gesture! Everyone in the hotel was incredibly friendly and most of them spoke good English. Breakfast was great and we also used the hotel's restaurant at lunch time, but ate out most evenings so I can't comment on their dinner menu. Our room was spotless and easily big enough for comfort. A good tip is to book a room with a balcony as it was nice to have the outside space. On the roof there is a small pool and a sun terrace where I spent a few enjoyable hours reading when the weather was nice. I was the only person there most of the time! My only crisicism, and its a very small one, is that the bar wasn't open on Sunday evening or later when we got back from dinner. I got the feeling it catered more for the lunchtime trade, which is a shame as it would have been nice to have drink there after dinner. I hope I go back to Argentina one day and if I do I shall definitely be staying here. I highly recommend it.
Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony as it gives you extra space.
