“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014 via mobile

Have a good location and a very good price.... Near to drugstory (FARMACITY) ,supermarket (CARREFOUR) and a subway station (URUGUAI). So... Isn't the best hotel in BUA , but have everything to do your trip more cheaper.

This hotel provided everything I needed on a recent short stay to Buenos Aires. The rooms are the standard Ibis, basic, but clean and comfortable. The air con worked well, which was essential on one of the hottest weeks I've experienced anywhere. The staff were friendly, there was always someone on who spoke English if required, and they were happy to assist when I needed (e.g. when booking taxis).

The location was handy in that it was near a metro (Sube) station (with another station and line just one block north), and its near the obelisc and Florida St, although if I were to stay in Buenos AIres again I'd opt for another location such as Palermo.

I opted in for breakfast which was a simple, continental breakfast but satisfying nonetheless.

Room Tip: My room was down the end of a hallway on a high floor so it was nice and quiet

I spent five nights here, using it as a base to explore BA.

Pros:
- Reasonably priced.
- Very good location, walking distance to key spots.
- Free wifi was strong, consistent and fast throughout the hotel.
- Room was generally very quiet despite the location.
- Air con worked beautifully.
- The room was well cleaned every day.

Cons:
- Room initially felt a bit like juvie. Very bland, with damage visible in the bathroom. But I got used to it.
- Food. Breakfast was passable (just) but wasn't included (although it cost just ARS35). Other meals forget it. I made the mistake of ordering a stir fry and it was microwaved, dry and tasteless. Awful. Absolutely awful.
- No significant benefit for being an Accor platinum member. I got the same room as any other schmuck and had to pay for breakfast. My platinum Hilton HHonors membership is far superior.

This is a standard Ibis hotel. Same bathroom, same beds, same decor as you can find anywhere in world. It is in a great location, close to the theatres, bookstores and to the city centre. Even though it is on a busy avenue, didn't find it noisy. Excellent value for money. Absolutely ok for a no-frills hotel.

To make it easier after our flight from London, we had pre-booked Taxi Ezeira - $44 straight to the hotel. We had pre-booked the hotel, but check-in was still slow - fill in form, they enter in computer - annoying after a long flight. However, this was the only complaint we had. Room was small but well equipped including a big shower. Wi-fi worked well and there was BBC and CNN on TV - the only time this happened in our 3 weeks in Argentina. Buffet breakfast was fine.
The hotel pointed us in the direction of Florida as expected to change money. This was our first experience of the blue dollar so were a bit nervous. Spoke to several people to find out the rate and dealt with an older guy who looked respectable. Taken into an upstairs room in a nearby building and got 9.6/US$. We became much more relaxed about this process as we travelled around the country.
Stayed here for another two nights on our return to BA, different room but just as comfortable. Hotel is in a good location - we generally walked around the city but also used the subway - cheap and easy. At the blue dollar rate we paid $48 a night - absolute bargain.

The hotel is ideally located in the centre of the city on Av Corrientes, which allows you to walk to some of the close by sightseeing attractions and to get a feel of the local Buenos Aires vibes. The room is average with no bar fridge, kettle or iron to make your stay comfortable. The air conditioner in my room was in perfect working condition, as some of the days in November were quite hot. The bathroom is very plain and I would advise you take with your own soap, shower gel, shampoo, etc. as the bare minimum is supplied. Breakfast was inclusive and hot scramble eggs is supplied, with assorted breads, cheese, coffee, milk, cereal and fruit. It is very basic but provides for a meal to start your day. No one is around to provide service and you need to go to reception if you need help. On the 5th morning of my 7 day stay I received a letter under my door, very impersonal, to say that I already owe the hotel the amount of AR$ 2000 and should address the matter at reception. To make it worse, the letter was in Spanish only, in which I am not fluent, so I had to translate it first to understand the message. This was very impolite and I have never experienced anything like it on my travels. I spoke to the staff member at reception and he also offered no explanation why they do it and just told me that he will make a note on their system. So, if you are looking for a good location then this hotel is fine but don't go there if you expect a good service.

Translated statement:

Room Tip: Stay on the 7th floor or up in order to have some view of the surrounding area.
