“Awesome Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

My wife and I recently stayed at the Duque Hotel for 5 nights in July. We found it on tripadvisor and we were not disappointed after reading all of the positive reviews. This is a small hotel, and we really felt that we got to know the staff and other guests. The service is top-notch. The employees at the front desk gave us recommendations for things to do, including a tango show that turned out to be a great experience.

The rooms themselves were quite nice and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was also very good, and we enjoyed the pastries and coffee that were available throughout the day. But the one thing we really enjoyed about this hotel is the little spa area in the basement. On 3 of our 5 nights, we enjoyed the hot tub and the sauna in the basement, and each time, we had the place all to ourselves. It was a great way to unwind after a day of touring.

Finally, the location. This hotel is located in Palermo, a nice, safe neighbourhood to wander around at night. There are shops nearby (and a shopping mall), restaurants nearby (including the popular Don Julio Steakhouse which is very close), and the metro station is an easy 10 minute walk (we took the metro almost every day to the city centre - it's a pretty short ride).

Overall, if you like a smaller hotel with a more intimate feel and with a tremendously helpful staff, don't hesitate to book the Duque.

We were overwhelmed by all the possibilities of hotels in BA and wanted a truly Argentinian experience; well we found it@ The Duque! We wrote from Canada & received an immediate reply. From that moment the exceptional service offered by the entire staff was evident and it never waivered. We had to stay elsewhere the first 2 nights but felt comfotable enough to ask, and they obliged, with arranging a driver from the airport to another hotel!!! We then moved to Duque for six nights. It was sooooo cute! Quaint, cozy, artsy, clean, safe and in an excellent location! Close to Subway which takes you to almost everywhere you want to go and very cheap. Also near great restaurants, shopping, and entertainment like Milongas, Polo (when in season), Horse racing, & important tourist sites....no matter what your goals are they know....just ask.
All the Argentinian people have been extremely helpful but the reception staff here excels compared to anywhere we have been before!!!!! Despite the low cost of the hotel, the breakfast (buffet-style but will make eggs any style) is comparable to other hotels (and better than many) and coffee and postres are available all the time! Felt at home!!!! Likely prefect for most travelers...a must to consider when planning any stay in BA! Thanks to all the staff :)

I booked sight unseen, a little scarry from so far away. The Duque turned out to be wonderful. It's charming, close to everything, the staff is AMAZING. they can give great advise on where to eat, shop, what to see. The serve a great breakfast too! I stay in chain hotels monthly for work and this was a much better alternative. Highly recommend!!!

Room Tip: We chose a room with two twins which worked out great. The rooms are a little smaller than what I...

From the moment you walk in, you are made to feel welcome at this wonderful hotel. The multi-lingual staff welcome you into their home and make life easy. Lovely set out rooms with awesome showers await you when you check in.
The addition of the spa in the basement was a delight, the water was so hot and relaxing, not to forget the Scottish shower as well. Once you work that bad boy out, you won't want to leave.
Breakfast was a lovely selection with fresh eggs cooked to your liking and a coffee machine available with pastries 24/7.
Just down the road you will find Don Julio's Steakhouse, this is a must for your taste in Argentinean Beef. a lovely dinner and lots of wine, just ask the Duque for directions.
If you are landing at the International Airport, take up the Airport Transfer Service, its a nightmare drive and the transfer was worth paying for.
Only negative was the price of the laundry service within the hotel, go across the road, its a lot cheaper.

Thanks for the stay.

We stayed here with friends from Switzerland here on our way to the Antarctic and afterwards on our way to Iguassu Falls and found the staff at the Duque Hotel extremely helpful and accommodating, especially since we wanted to leave our antarctic luggage there while we went up to the Falls. We found the hotel very compact (the rooms are not big) but it had everything we needed for a short stay and the decor was fun. Would recommend it as good value for money in a trendy and young area.

Our first trip to Buenos Aires and the Duque Hotel was just what we needed. A nice small friendly hotel, quite conveniently located to the Palermo area of the city. It's a short walk to the metro which is one good way to get around. The staff of the hotel were very helpful and efficient, the room nice and bed comfortable. They helped us change money, negoatiate taxis and recommend places to go--all worked out well. Breakfast, as others mentioned, very good. Our only small snag was that the room to the front was quite noisy if the window was open, due to the traffic that seems to go on all night. Or you could close the windows and deal with the air conditioning... That said, we would go back there in a heartbeat buecause of the other attractions and good value.

Room Tip: If you are considering this hotel maybe you should ask for a quiet room.
