I had a wonderful time staying at America del Sur Hostel. Excellent location and such a friendly atmosphere. This hostel has a great vibe. I enjoyed the breakfast, the clean rooms and they even make your beds and clean the bathrooms everyday! Great free walking tours, pub crawls and helpful English speaking staff. Good wifi too.

Ok I actually cannot rate this hostel highly enough. I loved it; I’d recommend to anyone, I’d definitely go back. The staff are super friendly and all lovely people. They are really helpful. They advised me which buses to catch, recommended places to go and were great for generally helping me navigate round BA in the short time I had there. The location is great. There’s a supermarket right across the street. It’s a short walk to the plaza de mayo and metro and the area generally is lovely. The metro is cheap and very easy to use. The hostel offer lots of trips and has lots of free activities too..tango lessons, city tours etc all really great. I was with a friend but think this would be a great option for solo travellers as they always have stuff going on and it’s very easy to meet other travellers. The hostel is huge and has loads of communal space which is something most hostels lack. It feels like a hotel. There’s a big seated area near reception with books and info, plenty of tables and chairs by the bar and kitchen, a large outside seating area with lots of space and also a huge lounge in the basement with sofas, a big tv and a computer room. You really are spoiled for places to hang out and the wifi works in all those places. I really liked that about the place. It never felt crowded. The kitchen is the only thing that is on the small side but to be honest there never seemed to be anyone using it when I was so never had a problem. It’s also very clean and actually the whole hostel is extremely clean. Definitely the cleanest hostel I’ve ever been in. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm which was nice. It had its own shower and toilet, big lockers and was very clean and comfy. It even had a hairdryer which was a luxury!! Loved it. Seriously go there, it’s got everything. BA is a great city and I think this hostel is a great place to stay.

Stayed here in Oct 2012 in a 4 bed dorm. The hostel is in a good location, about 15 mins walk from the very centre. Although the street is a little quiet, we had no problems.

The room was very well equipped with a reading light each, a big locker for your rucksack, plenty of space and a private shower and separate toilet. We reported something spilled down the side of my bed when we arrived and it was cleaned immediately which was good. The beds are comfortable and clean but were a little shaky and could be tightened!

The building is big and impressive inside with a huge reception, dining area and kitchen, as well as a nice decking area outside and huge lounge downstairs. It felt more like a budget hotel than a hostel!

Breakfast was very good, with a few cereals, toast, cake, juices, tea & coffee and always kept topped up.

Staff were very friendly and unbelievably helpful. We messed up a flight booking and the receptionist phoned the airline and sorted it all out for us! Amazing! Saved us a lot of money and time! They were also excellent at guiding you around the city and recommending places to eat.

Would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

This hostel is fantastic, really well located for the sites of BA, you can walk to everything, there are also quite a few good restaurants within a couple of blocks of the hostel, the private rooms whilst a little expensive are amazing and are like a proper hotel so worth the extra cost. They have lots of free activities to join in with and the paid activities they offere were excellent, e,g the tango lesson and show. But the best thing about this hostel is the staff they are so friendly and helpful, totally amazing. I highly recommend this hostel.

There's a reason this place has such great reviews--it's fabulous! The breakfast is good, the common areas plentiful, and the other guests interesting. The whole place was recently renovated, and you can tell. The rooms are not extremely large, but the rest of the experience more than makes up for it. Right across from a supermarket, near major attractions, and best of all--the staff are AMAZING and willing to do anything to be helpful.

Room Tip: The higher up you are, the less noise there will be.

I loved staying at America Del Sur in San Telmo. I found it on trip advisor when looking for recommendations of places to stay. The staff are the best around, helpful, knowledgeable and speak both English and Spanish. The place is modern and clean. I stayed in a 4 bedroom dorm and it had its own shower and toilet along with lockers and a 2 pin socket next to the bed.
The breakfast was great with cereal, yoghurt, juice, the best toast ever and tea and coffee. Wifi was good. There is a BBQ area and there is also a relaxing room with couches, tv and pcs.
San Telmo is an up and coming area with lots to do and 8 blocks from the port. They always have activities to do at the hostel, walking tours, tango lessons and they will arrange bus tickets and other excursions. ( tango show, soccer). I stayed there for 2 weeks and it was hard to leave.

Room Tip: Hi up in the building so you are away from the sounds in the outside area.
