“Inconvenient location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

e stayed for 4 days. In a 1904 building, the rooms with high ceilings are charming, decorated with a modern eye. It's very quiet. The desk staff speaks excellent English. But the location in Amagra, a sleepy residential area, is not convenient to visit the city. We had spent a week in Palermo earlier in the month where we had many options for restaurants, shops, and parks in walking distance. From Raco, a long and warm ride on the subte is required to get to anywhere. Taxis, while relatively inexpensive, are not readily found and add time to the day. WiFi was quite spotty. Breakfast was not satisfactory, toast and cereal. We wished we stayed elsewhere - - Recoleta or again in Palermo.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your comments; we really appreciate the fact that you took the time to write such lovely words.

We would like to remark that the Hotel is strategically located in the geographical center of the city as a great starting point to all neighborhoods and main sights. An antique house, built in 1904, Racó de Buenos Aires is nestled in a calm and safe residential area, situated only 3 blocks from the metro and a 15 min taxi ride to any of the interesting spots; by the way, the front desk staff can call a taxi any time, 24hs a day.

In our neighborhood, you may find restaurants and bars (with the best price-quality relationship). Also, there is a large commercial area in the surroundings, the Basilica of San Carlos Borromeo, where Pope Francis was baptized, as well as parks, fairs, and access to several bus lines.

The importance of staying in a particular neighborhood has to do with your own interests. Many people come to Buenos Aires and think Palermo or Recoleta are the main spots, but actually the city has many other highlights and we happen to be in the middle of all of them.

Another point worth mentioning is the fact that you will always get breakfast if you book directly with us, contacting us by e-mail or telephone. It is “à la carte”, meaning guests can order as they please. Our general breakfast includes coffee, tea, chocolate and milk, orange juice, croissants, fruit salad, yogurth, cereals, toast, sandwiches and scrambled eggs. If a guest requires any additional product, for instance, according to a special meal plan, it will be included at no extra cost. The reservations made through travel agencies, usually online, will not include breakfast.

This is a very nice hotel in a stunning 100 year old home. You'd think the inside would be dated, but it's immaculate with every luxury imaginable. The bed was the most comfortable I've slept in throughout my 6 months is South America. Wifi worked great, staff was so friendly (perfect English) and the shower was hot with good pressure. The only downside (for me personally) was the location. I prefer Palermo where there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. This part of town was less lively. However, if you don't mind taking cabs or subte everywhere, I definitely recommend this property.

We stayed here for four nights and the staff was amazingly helpfull. They helped us with tickets for a tangoshow, the boat to Uruguay and even helped me with a birthday cake for my fiancée (serviced it at breakfast as a suprise). The hotel is very charming, beds and breakfast really good. Definitely would go back here if we go back to Buenos Aires.

A lovely 2 day stopover in Buenos Aires. Late booking the day before I arrived no problem. The hotel organised a taxi transfer from EZE to the hotel and rolled it into the bill. I stayed in the deluxe room which came with a king size bed, good storage space and small en-suite. The hotel gave me advice about what to do in the city over my short stay, and some recommendations about where to eat locally. They made me feel very welcome during my stay and I can't recommend them highly enough. They also organised for a taxi to take me back to the airport. 5/5 and thanks for the great stay!

The hotel was personal and everyone at the front desk spoke English and was helpful. I used the hotel to arrange the taxi to and from the airport. Be sure to pay in pesos and not with a credit card on the taxi. The driver, Mario, was quite pleasant and spoke Spanish with an Italian rhythm.
The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood about three blocks from the SubTe (Subway Line A). The local restaurants are good and the front desk directed me to the non-tourst places to eat. There recommendations were good.
I'll probably go back. The rooms are nice and the bathrooms are european style.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2014

We have stayed in this hotel for 5 nights based on the reviews and we were not very pleased with our stay. The personal touch started even before our arrival, we chose the hotel to arrange the airport transfer and it was great not to have to worry about it after 14 hours of flying.
Location: The hotel is in the quite Almagro neighbourhood; less than 10mins walk to a Subte Station on line A (Castro Barros); the line A takes you directly to Plaza Del Mayor; where most attractions are at walking distance. The Subte is very reasonable, we bought singles in 10-batches ; every journey is one ticket; 10-tickets cost 50 Arg. pesos (less than 5 usd). I'd recommend to avoid during rush-hour though; if you are not used to it. Even for seasoned Londoners, we thought it was very crowded indeed; so realise that BA is a crowded city on the move.
Room: Lovely room at the patio level, spacious, clean, king-size bed; flatscreen tv with one English channel, en-suite bathroom on the small side but perfectly adequate; good shelving for storing your clothes. There is air-condition in the room to provide heat and cold as desired. Our room didn't have a window to the street but the door to the patio only, which was more than enough and actually kept the noise out of our room so we would sleep really good in the evening. The cleaning was really good, every day the towels changes, bed made and room cleaned throughout; it was great to come back to a lovely clean, fresh scent after a day of walking in not-so-clean BA streets.
Hotel : It's a 1900s converted house made up with rooms at 2 levels with a little patio on the ground floor. Very beautiful, quant decoration. Nothing fancy but all basics are there and lots of little details pleasing the eye. We spent most evenings out in the patio, sipping a glass of wine and chatting after a day's sightseeing.
All the young guys and girls at the reception spoke excellent english, most helpful with tips and things to do, activities, etc. We wanted to buy a house gift for a friend, and were recommended and excellent mall selling house-ware; we would have never found the place ourselves otherwise. They were also more then happy to phone restaurants and taxis to help with various bookings. Brilliant people that made our stay very comfortable.
The area is a residential, safe area with schools and churches nearby.
There were plenty of excellent breakfast options walking distance, so we didn't have any problems with hotel not having facilities.
If I travel to BA again, I would definitely consider staying here again and would not hesitate to recommend.

I absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Boutique Raco. We had two short stays at this hotel on either side of a trip to Mendoza. Not long after making the booking I received a lovely email offering to pick us up from the airport and this was very helpful and the transfer was great. They also arranged a transfer to Jorge Newbury for our flight to Mendoza and picked us up again on the way back, as well as returning us to the international airport for our flight home.
The hotel building is stunning inside, whoever decorated the rooms kept the beautiful original features whilst installing all the modern amenities such as the smart bathrooms and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in (in the suite!)
My Spanish isn't that great but the staff spoke perfect English and gave us a map and recommendations for sightseeing in the city. Our final night was a Sunday, and not wanting to miss out on any action BA has to offer we asked the manager what our options were. He laid on a fantastic wine tasting with snacks (for a very reasonable extra fee) and also booked for us a dinner and tango show, complete with bus transfer. The tango show was fantastic!
The neighborhood is also lovely and quiet, and is within very easy reach of a metro station to get to the city centre, although we walked everywhere.
Highly recommend! I would definitely stay here again :)
