“Elefante Rosa recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

I stayed 2 nights at Elefante Rosa. It was the kind of place I needed to settle in to Buenos Aires before moving on top explore South America.
I had arranged with the manager Diego to be picked-up from the airport. This was welcome relief after a 15 hour flight. Diego spoke good English and provided great advice of how to navigate Buenos Aires and sights to see. The room was good and bathroom facilities well kept. It felt like a home away from home.
I can recommend Elefante Rosa.

My boyfriend and I were fortunate to stay in Elefante Rosa for three nights in one of the loft rooms. The room was exceptionally well priced compared to the other places we have stayed in Argentina.

The building is one of the older, beautiful architectural gems of the city which has been restored inside. It can be a little difficult to locate as there is no sign outside the building, however a small picture of an elephant can be seen above the door and the street number is also visible.

Diego, the owner, was friendly and helpful in every possible way, helping us to navigate the city, organise to see a tango show, locate a laundry and to exchange money.

I would recommend this hostel to any traveller or couple. For those who tend to use Hostel World or Hostels.com to book their accommodation, I would recommend contacting Elefante Rosa directly. Despite being 'booked out' on these websites, Diego was able to offer us several room alternatives and was quick to respond to our enquiries.

The breakfast is simple, but delicious, with the best croissants we have tasted so far.

Found this perfect spot on tripadvisor and booked immediately. Our host Diego sent us an email to confirm our details and advise us on how to get to the Elefanta Rosa.
As soon as we arrived Diego showed us to our room. We were told take our time and check in when we were ready.
Diego had a map ready for us and showed us the tourist spots and gave us details on how to navigate the city.
In fact Diego made us feel like family. It was like staying with a cousin who wanted to make sure our stay was amazing.
While the place is not in the usual tourist spots its only a block from the yellow subte and a block and a half from the purple subte.
If we had decided to go to Le Boca Diego told us to check with him first on how to get there properly as it was not a safe area to just "wander" into.
The rooms are cool. High ceilings. A sitting room with a big tv and balcony. Due to the high ceilings a steel floor is constructed with a stairs thats leads up to a double bedroom with ensuite.
The breakfast is normal for budget hotels. A small clean kitchen is available for use. Lots of grocery stores around.
On leaving Diego, for cheaper fee than a taxi took us to the airport. His English is perfect so we got a history/social and cultural lesson on the way to the airport.

All in all a fantastic stay.

This gem absolutely blew us away! It looks exactly like the photos. As well as being absolutely an gorgeous house, the guys have added cool artsy touches throughout. We stayed in room 1 which was huge- a sitting area downstairs anf bathroom and bedroom upstairs. The owner, Diego, was wonderful and helpful in every way and really made us feel at home. We didn't use many of the facilities, but there was a great kitchen and big living area. It's a bit off the beaten track, but the subway is only half a block away so it never bothered us. It was actually quite nice to be tucked away

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Elefante Rosa for two nights in end of February - beginning of March.

We stayed in a magnificent room with a living room downstairs and the bed on a mezzanine upstairs together with the bathroom. The room is really good value for money if you pay in US Dollars. The hostel is in a beautiful old tailors/sewing factory and has some nice quaint decor with a huge stained glass ceiling in the common room/breakfast area and a nice stained glass window in the reception above the stairs. We almost didn't want to leave the room because it was so nice and the place is really tranquil and quiet. If I remember rightly it's got two small dorms and two private rooms (ours being the luxury option) so it's not a big place. It also has a very good and reliable Wi-Fi connection which is important for us, being blogging tourists.
The owners speak very good English and are very helpful with pointing out highlights of Buenos Aires and explaining how to get around the city, also how to get to the famous, but sketchy, Boca neighbourhood safely by bus.

A great Hostel and I'll definitely recommend this place to my friends and stay here again if in Buenos Aires.

Firstly Diego (owner) goes above and beyond with his service to you. We arranged for him to pick us up from the airport and chose room 1 which has the ensuite. the room is very well set up and clean !!The building has been renovated and is cool in its presentation. The location is outside of the main tourist area, which gave a sense of being in the real Buenos Aires. There is two subway stations, giant supermarket and restaurants etc within a couple of mins walking. The croissants and coffee in the morning we enjoyed very much too. could not fault this place and the dedicated service of Diego. Highly recommended and will be staying here again !

This cosy and wonderfully personal hostel felt like my home during my stay in Buenos Aires. Calm and clean and safe - which is great in this big vibrant city. Close to the Subte, and to food stores, cafés and restaurants. Not a typical touristic area, which I very much appreciated. Very sympathetic and helpful owners who gave me a lot of good recommendations.
