Let's face it - Buenos Aires, with all its cafes, restaurants and nightlife, is not exactly the destination to go with kids.
However, we - and specially my 4-year-old daughter - had a very pleasant surprise when we visited the Museo de Los Niños located inside Abasto Shopping, in Abasto District.
Museo de Los Niños can be hardly defined as a museum, but it is no playground at all. Its concept is very simple - lots of scenarios where the kids can learn and live real-life experiences, such as anchoring a TV news, examining a baby-doll at a hospital, replenishing a supermarket shelf or playing McDonald's cashier.
Most of the "attractions" are sponsored by well-known companies - McDonalds, Nestlé, Clarín, Colgate, YPF and so on - which helps make the place well maintained and organized.
Reaching Museo de Los Niños is simple, specially if you go by subway (or Subte as the Argentinians call it) - just head to line B,"Esq. Carlos Gardel" station and follow the signs. The station has an exclusive entrance to the mall.
Food and drinks are not allowed inside the Museo, but it is possible to leave its premises and then return later on with no extra charges.
The bottomline: my daughter enjoyed this place to exhaustion ! Highly recommended !!!
