“The worst hostel ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2010

Don´t stay at this hostel!!! It´s terrible!
Me and my mom arrived at this hostel and the unkind lady at the reception said that we had to pay ALL THE NIGHTS beforehand. So, we had to look all day for exchange the money, since the hostel is more expensive if you pay it in dollars. When we saw our bedroom, we were petrified. That has one unbearable smell. The air conditioner was so old, that we didn´t turn it on, because who knows how much time the filter was cleaned. The fan was so far away of the bed that we felt hot in there. The pillows didn´t had pillowcases and when we asked for it on the reception, the boy brings us the most dirt ones! DISGUSTING!! The next day, we looked for another hostel.
PS: The worst hostel I´ve ever stayed in my life! The staff is also unfriendelly!

went to this hostel first in BA and made a horrible experience. After two nights in a terribly loud, clumsy room my whole body was covered with red dots due to insects (bed bucks, flies, fleas....whatsoever?!?). This was the worst experience I have ever made in a hostel.

Tango is a pretty lively joint and is quite a large hostel. There are good communal areas to socialise with other travellers if you are travelling solo which is good. The accommodation itself is pretty basic, but its a good location in Palermo for the price. Can get a bit crowded and noisy, and I didn't find the staff particularly friendly or helpful.

The only cockroach I saw in two months in South America was here. The rooms are filthy, the matresses smell. There is no aircon, and it is on a very busy and noisy road, so opening the windows while you are trying to sleep is not really an option.

The redeeming factors are the location, which is in trendy Palermo and it has a roof terrace.

The worst place we stayed at in South America.

this hostel is in a great location in BA, staff is pretty helpful, if you come here though I recommend you really enjoy the nightlife and partying, because that´s the type of hostel it is. Kitchen has a total of 3 forks, not good for cooking in, the top bunk beds are kind of hard to get into, but the biggest issue for me was the bites that I had the day after I stayed there. There had been three other people in other rooms that had had issues with having some sort of bites all over their body. I´m still itching, over 3 days later! Since this place has so many rooms, who knows which ones (or how many) are affected. Once they get the problem under control, would be great to stay in if you like partying.

This place has great communal areas, a large kitchen, roof terrace and a bar but this is undermined by how unhelpful and disorganised the staff are.

They showed me one room when I booked a dorm and assured me I'd be staying there. When I turned up the next day with my backpack they seemed to have lost my reservation. I ended up paying the same price to stay in a tiny room with two bunkbeds squeezed into it. The room was windowless and very loud as it was built on a platform above the living room and corridor. That night I shared the room with three strange guys and the heat was unbearable. When I complained the next morning the staff were unsympathetic.

Very unimpressed!

Stayed in tango backpackers in Palermo. Good hostel. Good social scene. All types of people staying - young, old, singles, couples, groups. Good atmosphere. Good communal areas, kitchen, roof area and a bar. We stayed in a private room which was a good size but basic. Ground floor rooms near communal area a little noisy. Staff are brilliant, very friendly and helpful. Lots of excursions and nights out on offer, staff can help plan trip through rest of Argentina, offering advice on other hostels in the group and can help with your Spanish. A wide collection of South America guides that you can look at to help plan your trip. Hostal offers guided trips to football matches, well worth going with a guide for safety. Book exchange available. Amazing barbeque night, fixed price, tons of delicious food. Not many options for veggies though! Great cake & pastries shop nearby. Not far from main avenue and underground station. Nice leafy area to stay in but easy enough to get to centre on underground which is cheap and runs often enough. Large parks not too far away.

  • Liked — Great atmosphere, good social areas, friendly helpful staff
  • Disliked — basic
