What a find!

As a lecturer I am not used to giving 100% and neither is my husband but to Kevin and Diego at El Edificio de los Pavos Reales we both give the best possible mark! Firstly, it is a beautiful and romantic place to stay. I have wonderful photographs of the furniture, the stained glass and even the lift! Secondly, the breakfast was delicious and attractively presented with fresh bread and the home-made juice was also very much appreciated when we arrived back hot and tired.

Kevin’s hospitality started before we left England. His emailed information, particularly concerning taxis, gave us an advantage and saved us money all over Argentina. Most importantly, if it had not been for Kevin our time in Buenos Aires could have been a nightmare. We stayed at Pavos Reales before and after a flight to Iguazu. During the flight our suitcases were broken into and traveller’s cheques were stolen. Kevin not only phoned the bank and helped us to get replacement cheques but also took the heavy case to get the lock mended before we had breakfast!

Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. We would have liked to stay longer and when Kevin helped us down with our luggage I felt sad to leave. It was more like staying with friends. We hope it is not too long before we can return.

We stayed at El Edificio de los Pavos Reales for three days in March 2008. This was the finale of a vacation which included a cruise around Cape Horn and for both couples, it was one of the highlights of our entire holiday. Kevin and Diego were fabulous hosts. The place was spotlessly clean and decorated with attention to detail and preservation of the wonderful history it represented. Breakfast was a dining experience with fresh pastries, fruit, conserves and selection of teas, juices and coffee. El Edificio de los Pavos Reales' location allows easy access to many of the local attractions and Kevin's willingness to share his vast knowledge of the history and culture of the area was an unexpected bonus! The best part of our stay, however was the ambiance...so relaxing and refreshing that we regretted we hadn't planned to stay longer. We can only dream that we have the opportunity to return in the future.

  • Liked — The very gracious hosts and the overall ambiance
  • Disliked — There was nothing to dislike!

Kevin made us feel welcome immediately and with 5 days in BA wasan excellent source of local knowledge. The apartment is a real gem of art deco which my wife adores. Generous apartment closely located to the subte, was a wonderful location. A little noisy early in the morning, but we slept through most of it and the atmosphere & hospitality more than outweighed this.

We stayed at El Edificio de los Pavos Reales for a total of 6 nights. Our initial request was for 4 nights. We e-mailed the owners on short notice asking whether they could accommodate us for 2 additional nights and they obliged. The owner was candid about a house party they would be hosting since we would be arriving earlier and he was kind enough to give us a discount. I thought that was very nice of them.

We had access to six rooms (including a dining room, living room and a patio on an inside open air courtyard) and they were all beautifully decorated and spotless. We took pictures of them but photos will not give this B&B total justice. Beautiful hardwood floors, classic high ceiling, elegant antique furniture and a cosy little loft above a cute reading room (which can transform into a second sleeping area). The street below the bedroom was a little noisy at night but Buenos Aires is very noisy no matter where you go.

The breakfasts the owner prepared for us were fantastic. Fresh fruit, pastries and much more. I think the nicest attribute to this B&B are the owners. Their knowledge of the city, the surrounding areas, and the general history of the country was remarkable. Kevin was very helpful in arranging the scheduling of a couple of tourist events for us and that was very well appreciated. We were recommended excellent restaurants, especially Las Violetas. This restaurant is a must, as much for the food, the historic decor with stained glass windows and tall columns, as for the waiters' professionalism, and extremely well priced.

  • Liked — friendly and knowledgeable hosts
  • Disliked — Loud street noise in the bedroom at night
