Stayed at the Glu Hotel in Palermo for 3 nights. It has only opened and we got a reduced rate of 170 usd per night. Hotel is brand spanking new and rooms are well equiped and quite big. Wooden floors are probably my only fault with the rooms, it doesn´t help with keeping down noise levels. The spa and gym which is referred to on the hotels website are not open yet, hence the reduced rate but once they are this hotel will be a great place to stay. There is a terrace on the ground floor to have breakfast/drinks and there is also a jacuzzi and sun loungers on the small roof terrace. Internet access is free.
Location wise, its just a couple of blocks (5 mins walk) from the main square in Palermo and we had no problem finding places to eat/drink within close distance to the hotel. Palermo does appear slightly dingy in comparison to staying in other areas like Recoleta but we never felt unsafe, day or night. The abundance of shops/restaurants and bars makes Palermo a great area to stay in.
Finally, the staff. They couldn´t do enough. It was possibly the friendliest hotel I´ve ever stayed at.
