This place is a gem. Beaux arts mansion, handsomely redone, with lots of wood. The wine bar is excellent; small selection but well chosen, and the staff are knowledgable. What stands out as much as anything are the young staff, a mix of Argentine (with excellent idiomatic English) and Americans. They are very friendly and extremely helpful. I had several long interesting chats with them. When I inquired about places to buy leather, a staffer rang up her mother-in-law in BA and gave me a list of half a dozen places. (Leather is very good value.) Palermo Soho is a good area in which to stay -- better than downtown, in my view. Downtown is only 10 to 15 minutes by cabs, which cost only about $5. (Tip: Be sure to check exchange rates carefully.) On my next visit to BA I won't look for any other hotel.
