We too arrived late and were also charged for the late checkout, and tried to charge us for 2. When we TRIED to explain that we hadn't stayed 2 nights, they couldnt understand us as english is very little. The shop/restaurant/bar staff do not speak any, and this also makes things very hard. We had difficulty finding what things were on what days, as the staff just looked at us blankly when we tried to ask so we only found 1 market, and that was by chance. Staff were unhelpful, and sometimes rude. Food was average, we ate out every night, although you have to get taxis/buses into yalikavak as the hotel is away from everything, and if you are ready to take the trek to Bodrum (about 40 minutes away) then you can also do that by bus which is so much cheaper than taxis. We felt very isolated!! Hotel was ok, pool was cold and salt water one was dirty at the bottom, nothing like the pictures!! Beach was dirty, says that they offer on site watersports but again language was a problem, they just looked at you like you were mad - dont think we saw 1 person go on the jetski's while we were there., groups of men sat in the hut all day talking turkish. Felt quite intimidating!
