We have just returned from two weeks at the Cimentepe Apartments and would recommend it to anyone looking for quiet relaxation in beautiful surroundings. Our 1 bedroom apartment was basic but spotless; bed linen and towels were changed every two days. Our room (no 20) had a fabulous sea view. The hotel garden is a delight and the pool area has plenty of sunbeds and huge soft cushions; even in July we often had the pool to ourselves. The manager and boys who work there are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The pool bar menu is basic English food but when we asked for a dish of Turkish green beans and rice it was promptly served up and very delicious!
The hotel is a 30 minute sea-front walk from Yalikavak centre, passing numerous fish restaurants and the beautiful marina. If you time it right you can watch the magnificent sunset across the bay on your way. Eating at these restaurants is an experience in itself; you don't have a menu but go with the waiter and choose meze from the cold cabinet and then select your fish from the catches that day also displayed in fridges. A meal for two will cost £40-50 here if you have a bottle of wine. There are lots of other inexpensive restaurants to choose from in Yalikavak.
We would definately recommend a trip to Gumusluk - 15 minutes away; you can catch a dolmus bus or go by taxi. It is a beautiful fishing village classified as a heritage site and the snorkelling is fantastic, you can also wade out across the causway to rabbit island and peep under the bushes to see the rabbits. Stay long enough to end your day in one of the fabulous waterfront restaurants.
We don't usually go anywhere twice but would return to Cimentepe without hesitation.
