I visited hotel taskule july 08 and was left very upset and disappointed with the hotel and it's owner.
I was travelling to Turkey by myself for the first time and wanted a decent hotel where I hoped I would feel welcome and safe.
After reading the positive reviews on trip advisor I decided Taskule was a good option.
I emailed the hotel with the details of my reservation request and had one of my best friends who speaks Turkish phone and tell them I was a female travelling by myself and reconfirm that the details in my email were ok.
I had informed them I would need to arrive at approximately 3-4am in the morning, due to a night flight, and would need to book a late check out from my room at about 5pm due to my return flight being at 11.45pm. All the details were confirmed over the phone and then confirmed to me via email by the owner, Hulya. I emailed once more just before i left to ensure the booking was still ok and Hulya reconfirmed they were expecting me and the details of my booking.
When i arrived at the hotel at 3.30am in the morning the hotel was locked up and all the lights were off. I was standing in the street in the dark banging on the door and ringing the hotel number for about ten minutes, with no response. I then saw a piece of paper stuck to one of the windows which had a phone number on it. I was starting to panic so i phoned the number and got a response. When the person came to open the front door there was no apology for leaving me there in the dark with no response, not even a hello. Clearly he was not happy that I had woken him up!!
The only good thing I have to say about my stay was that the rooms were very clean. The cleaner, Sultan, was the friendliest person at the hotel and she did her job extremely well.
The breakfast was disappointing and not worth getting out of bed for, so after the first day I didn't! Whenever i saw the owner she seemed extremely miserable, but I had no idea she would be as bad as she was on my final day.. On the final day, when I expected to be checking out at 5pm I was stopped by reception when I was on my way out at 11am and told I had to check out. I explained I had requested a late check out and had the email in the room to show this had been confirmed. The receptionist said I could not check out late as they had someone waiting for my room! I refused, explaining it had been agreed in writing and my flight was at 11.45pm, so i had no where to go all day if they made me leave now. Huyla was then phoned. She was in her room above the reception area, but did not bother to come down to speak to me. She was extremely rude and agressive and said she had someone waiting for the room and I was to leave. She would not even bother to come down to reception and after a few minutes of her being very rude I decided to leave as i did not want to be there with her acting like this.
I was disgusted by the treatment and would NEVER recommend anyone to visit this hotel. The owner, Huyla had no customer service skills whatsoever and was very uncompromising and rude. There are always going to be times when things go wrong, but it is the way hotels deal with the sutuation that seperates the decent places from the rubbish ones. Taskule is a decently located, clean hotel, but it is not a welcoming one and the service (from the owner) is enough to put anyone off.
