“Magical stay - could not have been happier!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

Maria and Tosun are incredible hosts and made our first trip to Turkey truly amazing. The Lavanta is like a hidden oasis, if we never left the property we would have been perfectly happy! Most incredible breakfast, and the staff felt more to us like family. We felt so at home and will absolutely be going back on our next trip - thank you!!

I recently stayed at the Lavanta for a week with my two children, aged 3 and 5, and friends, also with kids. We had a great time- it is a really special place. The setting of the hotel is idyllic, with lush gardens, the beautiful pool, a quiet setting. Maria and Tosun and their staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. They were very welcoming, friendly and great with the kids. I rented the self catering apartment which was comfortable with a large balcony, with a view across the harbour. Breakfast deserves a mention as the food was wonderful- the home made preserves, cheese, seasonal fruit particular highlights. I cannot recommend the Lavanta highly enough and hope to return one day.

We added the Bodrum Peninsula late in planning our trip and picked the Lavanta from TripAdvisor. It was excellent. We loved it and will go back there.

The owners, a Turkish-German couple, and their staff were hospitable and charming. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a good, modern bathroom and a balcony with a view over Yalikavak harbour. The gardens are lovely. Lavanta is lavender in Turkish. There was bougainvillea in several bright colours. The swimming pool is big enough to enjoy, spotlessly clean and surrounded by gardens with a view on one side. It was hard to drag ourselves away.

TA calls Lavanta a hotel, but it only serves breakfast (and tea and cake at 5 PM). This does not matter, as Yalikavak seafront has an abundance of restaurants.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a view.

12 years ago we had been told by our friends about a wonderful little botique hotel in Yalikavak called Lavanta, run by Tosun and Maria. Our journey to Turkey and to Lavanta was just magical back then in 2001. We arrived in the evening to an incredible view and rich set of guests and hosts.

Run forward 12 years to 2013, and this time we came back for another magical trip for one week with our two young boys of 7 and 9 and my wife's inlaws. We rented an apartment this time while my wife's parents stayed in one of the main lodges rooms.

The views are stunning, the pool delightful, the garden a Shangri La (with a quite little tortoise we remembere from 2001), Maria and Tosun are incredibly warm and energetic hosts, and the breakfast was something we looked forward to with excitement every morning.

I also have to note the staff at Lavanta was just fantastic, warm, smiling, helpful in every which way.

Coming back home after spending such an incredible week including a few absolutely delightful days just relaxing by the garden and swimming in the pool is quite difficult to say the least!

Often you go back to a place you have been years before, and the second time around is not the same experience. However, in this case it was not just as wonderful as our first time, but it was also made all the more so by being able to share this special treasure with our boys and my wife's parents too.

The Lavanta Hotel is a beautiful property with a spectacular view from the rooftop deck and dining area down to Yalikavak and the Aegean. The warmth and hospitality of Maria and Tosun and their staff is unsurpassed. It was by far the highlight of our trip through Turkey and our only regret is that we did not have more than 3 nights to spend here. We didn't want to leave! It was so relaxing and felt like home. We look forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: We were in room 24 and it was fantastic ... Very spacious, quiet, beautiful, comfortable.

Just returned from a few days at the Hotel Lavender (formerly Hotel Lavanta) in Bodrum-Yalikavak, Turkey, on the Agean Sea coast. To say that I liked it was an understatement. Tosun and Maria were wonderful as was the whole staff. The grounds and the pool were like living very well in the 60's and 70's in the South of France. Flowers blooming everywhere. Pool sparkling clean and clear water. My room was lovely. Quiet, serene, with beautiful white bed linens and wonderful towels. Everywhere you looked their were views of the village of Yalikavak and the sea. Yet the sea was only about 3 minutes away by car/taxi. Delicious breakfast with Maria's home made jams and marmalades. I especially loved her fig jam. Red in color and soft and runny and not too sweet. Hard to beat. Tea time was at five pm with a great selection of teas and Maria's delicious tarts and cakes. Lunch in the garden by the pool, eating under a huge weeping willow tree; blissful. Sunset cocktail hour for all the guests with breathtaking views and lovely people. I would say that in a lifetime of traveling all over the world it is one of the 5 most beautiful places I have seen. I did not want to leave and I cannot wait to go back. Congratulations to Tosun and Maria for putting 20 years of love into the Hotel Lavender.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great

My parents and I spent a wonderful week at Lavanta at the end of May. I have lived in Turkey for 7 years and have had a lot of holidays here - Lavanta is definitely a new favourite! The hotel itself is beautiful and oozes character and charm, as do its owners Tosun and Maria who designed and built it. Maria bakes an amazing array of delicious cakes for tea every afternoon, and when I mentioned that I had a nut allergy she made sure to bake a special, nut-free cake for me every day subsequently! Breakfasts are equally delicious, and served on the rose-garden terrace with a spectacular view of Yalikavak Bay. We couldn't tear ourselves away from the tranquility of the pool and gardens by day, but ventured out in the evenings to eat - we found plenty of great restaurants down by the water. On return, we enjoyed a glass of wine on the roof terrace (amazing view) and then surprisingly comfortable beds. We would recommend Lavanta whole-heartedly, and I'm hoping to return with friends later this summer.
