Just got back from Turkey after a 9 nite stay at the OYSTER RESIDENCE. We stayed in the honeymoon suite room 209 apparently the best room in the place.
Hotel Pluses: Quiet during the day, tastefully furnished, lovely pool area and quite an oasis right in the centre of Olu Deniz and by the beach. Great reception staff and helpful and also the maids very nice. Our room was very spacious and bright with our own private balcony.
Hotel minuses: Surly breakfast waiters only one showed any friendliness. We ordered a fresh orange juice one morning, which is extra and not included with breakfast. Never received but charged although later rescinded when settling bill. Breakfast ordinary especially the fruit which was not very fresh at all. The staff don’t ask if you want a cooked breakfast eg bacon/eggs so you would not know available unless you ask. (Strange). Some noise at night but ok and tolerable and tended to go off around midnite.
Resort Pluses : Beautiful surrounding areas, easy to beach and the national park lagoon which is wonderful.
Resort minuses: The tattooed brigade our well in evidence using all the tat bars that dominate the main strip. Benidorm has reached this lovely place which is a shame.
Food and Drink Pluses: Most recommended bar is Buzz bar which has friendly staff and clean with lovely fresh food, well cooked. Also prices clearly displayed on drinks and they serve real spirits not fake. Also well recommended is a trip to Fetihye on the dolmus costs 2 quid single and visit the Fish market. Choose your own fish and they cook fresh in the square we went 3 times it was that good. Sea Bass and King Prawns are devine!!. Never ate in the hotel but was always busy in the evening so assume lovely food. Chicken Kebabs at 2 quid also nice for a quick snack.
Food and Drink Minuses: More expensive than I imagined eg a spirit and mixer around 5 pounds. A large bottle of beer on average £2.50p. Avoid Sugar and Spice restaurant just down the way from the Hotel. All food is frozen, tasteless and just not worth it.
Top tip: Paragliding is going on all day and landing on the beach. Its great to watch and so much that my wife ventured and did the trip up the mountain and the paraglide. It was a wonderful experience for her. (Me scared to death!!). If your gonna do it, make sure you use one of the larger operatives. We used Sky sports after watching all landings the day before. Also Gravity is a good one. Don’t go for the cheaper ones, they have older chutes and less experienced staff. Costs arount £65.
Overall a lovely lovely holiday and would most likely go back.
