“Small but perfectly formed...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2011

Checked out from the 10-room Jade Residence this morning and thought I should post a review at the first opportunity, as a testament to my satisfaction with the place.

Room: We had 203 on the first floor. Bright and spacious with some local features. Only slight negatives were the air-con (slightly temperamental and am sure it could be easily resolved but we decided to have it off most of the time anyway...) and the water pressure in the shower could have been better.

Staff: Very personable, especially the all-male bar team. Zuhal (the manager?) was most helpful and gave truly impartial recommendations for places to eat etc. Also worth a special mention is Zac (the Gavin Henson lookalike) who's smiley 24/7, ever so courteous and speaks very good English.

Perks/Facilities: The pool, like the hotel itself, was small but very pleasant and welcome in the heat. Nice sofas/cushioned swings scattered around at one's disposal. Breakfast served till 11:30am which was perfect for late-risers like us. Complimentary and reliable Wifi throughout. Access to shops and beach was literally a stone's throw away (so yes, you would hear some noise from the clubs but hey, can't have it all now can we?).

Restaurant: Cream-coloured wooden chairs and tables, as well as comfy settees tastefully decked out on the terrace with great views of Oludeniz, particularly at sunset. Seafood Combo (never seen so much seafood on a plate for GBP15 in Europe!!!) was a highlight for me and the guys made a mean mojito! Do at least dine there once, promise me!

Admittedly, Oludeniz is not Maldives (it wouldn't be 1/5 of the cost if it were!) but for a few days of affordable R&R away from the usual suspects in the Med, it's hard to beat (especially when combined with a cultural visit to Istanbul). If you look hard enough, or know whom to ask for advice, you might just surprise yourself like we did:

- http://kizilada.com/ (A speedboat will pick you up from Fethiye and whisk you to a private island, where they serve good seafood on a wooden deck with breathtaking views. Not cheap but it's worth every penny).

- Cinbal Turkish barbecue restaurant (30 TLR by taxi each way but good fun especially if there is a group of you)

Enjoy!

We stayed at jade residence for 5 days. The location was great, right on the beach. The room was huge with a small balcony overlooking the pool. The breakfast was a bit hit and miss, it depended who worked, one morning we got eggs cooked fresh, while some mornings there was slim pickings. Other reviews talk about the noise from the clubs at night, which from a second floor room did keep us awake at night. We didn't go away to party and if you want a quiet sleep this is not the hotel for you. Some nights the music went until 2 in the morning. If you are planning to go out every night, come back late and lounge by the pool then this hotel should be at the top of your list.

Spent two nights at the Jade Residence, and wish it could have been longer! The Oludeniz landscape is gorgeous, but the sun, beach, bars, restaurants, promenade and loads of tourists can be overwhelming. Jade is the perfect antidote. It is so close to all of the action, but tucked away and private. Is it perfectly quiet at night? No! It's not gonna be -Oludeniz is not a quiet place. Expectations need to be adjusted accordingly. We expected some noise, but, didn't have any trouble sleeping.

Rooms: Light, bright, clean, airy. Love the French doors that open onto the small terrace overlooking the pool courtyard.

Service: Great. The manager responded immediately when we had trouble with our safe. We arrived before check-in, and were invited to enjoy breakfast. The staff at breakfast was very accommodating.

Breakfast: I found breakfast lovely. We spent 4 weeks in Turkey, so sampled many hotel breakfast spreads. Nice selection, fresh. Simply ask for eggs prepared to order if you don't find what you want on the buffet. Nice atmosphere in the courtyard.

Pool Area: Relaxing, quiet. It was nice to come in from the beach and chill out for a bit in the shade. Glad that it wasn't more of a scene with food, etc. Made it feel like my own private pool.

Restaurant: Jade Terrace is like the hotel - very nice, well situated, good quality, but not a crazy scene. Many of the restaurants in Oludeniz are loud, hopping, and filled with people that clearly spent hours putting on make up, squeezed into ill-fitting dresses, and hobbling around on 4-inch heels. I can find that kind of experience at home -- when on a beach vacation, I prefer a slightly more understated experience. Jade Terrace delivered. We had a lovely, romantic meal just after sunset, and watched the night sky unfold. Were not distracted by hordes of people out for a night on the town.

Having said all of that, I do also enjoy the experience that a place like Oludeniz offers -- where people let loose - it makes for fun and tons of good people watching! Definitely not boring. I would totally go back there just to stay at Jade Residence again! Next time, more than 2 days!

Note: the sister hotel next door (Oyster Residence) is also quite nice, with a bigger pool area and a great restaurant -- a great lunch break close to the beach.

Room - Amazing , really spacious and clean.
Service - average - TV didnt work (no big deal for us tbh) but they didnt fix it which i think was poor service for this standard of hotel, shower broke - Wasnt fixed..
Pool Area - Very nice
Hotel Grounds - Very well kept and plush
Breakfast - pretty basic but ok
Bar on Terrace - V nice.
Location - good on beach but also next to a disco that is loud until early hrs...

In Summary:
Above are the key points it is a beautiful hotel but service needs improving, a shame as this is truly a beautiful hotel.

Rooms are lovely, well designed and comfortable.
If you want to chill away from the crowded beach and people, Jade residence offers a very cozy central courtyard, with a pool. On the other hand, if you feel like lying on the beach, well... you just need to walk a few steps to be exposed to the outside world.
They have an excellent restaurant on their terrace offering fresh seafood with a gorgeous view on Oludeniz beach.
Service is top notch.
I you have the budget, don't think twice.
N.B: tall people like me should try to avoid the rooms in the attic.

I booked a room at this place as it looks lovely. It does have a nice pool and is only meters to the beach, however, don't book here if you actually want to sleep in your room or take a shower!

The beds must be from the 1980s, lumpy and uncomfortable. Its noisy all through the night, thanks to the positioning of the dish washing station for the restaurant right in front of the rooms. And poor quality windows makes sure that you can hear dishes and utensils clanging all throughout the night.

It also had constant water outages so trying to take a shower is a bit of a crap shoot, you have to hit the 5 minute interval when water is running. There was also a power failure, but that was short term (5 minutes) so not that annoying.

Other annoyances include a breakfast buffet that features bread and jam and a bit of fruit only (no coffee), extremely slow internet and safes that are tiny and not even bolted to the floor.

Its too bad, the place has potential. Its a great position and has lovely grounds, but don't book here if you actually want to sleep at night. Also, it has a no refund policy for any reason, so I am walking away after 1 night, yet paying for my entire time booked here. My health is worth it!!!
