Our first time to Oludeniz and Turkey was not a disappointment at all. The Asena Beach (Liberty) was really well positioned, modern, clean, very pretty, with great food, great service but above all the people that worked there were all wonderful.
All of the guys n gals work really hard long hours but they always carry a smile, have time to talk to you and have a laugh, joke or share a story. Above all they'll do anything to help make things special.
Don’t be put off by the hotel's situation right next to the main strip. Yes there are bars catering to the "Brit on holiday" that enjoys a place with a TV that shows football non-stop or offers Karaoke until the wee hours. However in amongst the music and the party mood you can find peace and relaxation at the hotel (as we did on our first night... in fact I think we both fell asleep on one of the large comfy "love chairs" in the quiet bar no more than 20m from the strip).
The best thing about the location of the Asena beach is that you are about 5-10 mins walk from the beach, never more than 2 mins from a pool or bar, a quick free shuttle ride from one of the best lagoon beaches in the World. You have ample opportunities close by to purchase "genuine fake" handbags (of very good quality - try Jeff's Harvey Nik's its the best), watches (Star watches, see Yusef), sunglasses or pamper yourself with all manner of beauty treatments at one of the numerous boutiques on the main street to the beach.
If you want some real Turkish spa treatment then go and see Fred at the hotel Spa and Gym. The Gym isnt much to look at and could do with some investment but I used it almost every day and it was fine for me (some free weights, a few cardio machines and a chest press machine). The Turkish bath was the best though... and what a fantastic massage too. Sorted my dodgy shoulder out a treat!
Some of the people we met complained about the food at their hotels but I never heard a bad thing about the Asena beach. If you want a chilled out breakfast then get there before 9am but whatever happens you wont be let down by the selection of fresh food... they have a couple of chefs that make pancakes and omelettes to order. The only thing I would add would be some chilled water as the standard juices aren’t great but Ibrahim (Mickey) offers some great fresh orange juice at a small charge and its worth it!
I would highly recommend the BBQ on Wednesday’s... book a table to see the entertainment then spend the whole night with an all you can eat food fest. Its not the horrid overcooked, salty, greasy muck that you may expect from an all you can eat buffet..... its fresh, tasty and great value with plenty of fresh salads and yummy deserts.
The room service is good but towel changes are not as frequent as some places, all the staff speak English but love teaching you some Turkish if you want to try. Reception staff are great and very helpful as are the bar staff too... I’ll miss my chats with Sam and Turgay and i’m sure the girls that stayed will miss the enthusiasm of the pool bar staff too!
Highly recommended! Have fun... we are already saving for next year! ;o)
