“Good and not so good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2011

This was the third time I have been to Turkey and the second time in Olu Deniz. Hope this review is helpful !

Olu: The main draw to go to Turkey and Olu Deniz? The weather...2 weeks in August, only one day with some cloud. Always hot. This could be a problem for some, I know, but not us :) So, a great escape from the British August Summer (or lack of it) and of course Turkey is a reasonable price all year round. There are so many places to eat in Olu as well (I recommend the Buzz Beach Bar, Madras, Bello and Gusto, Mustabi in particular!) and a few duds (the Turkish place to the right of Bello and Gusto) and Harrys, although the bar/club on the roof top is great!). The beach area is lovely, the lagoon also, and there are so many excursions to choose from (we did kayaking on the Xanthos river, paragliding, boat trip around the coastline of Olu, Pamukale and Ephesus and a day trip to Rhodes...if you want to know about any of these, let me know!).

The Hotel (Asena Beach): the hotel is quite large by Olu standards. It's clean and well looked after. Rooms are not very large, but comfortable and clean with either balcony or terrace. Three rooms over look the main street, opposite 2 noisy karaoke bars and believe me, there seriously is no point trying to go to sleep before 1am. I can sleep through most things, but not 2 karaoke bars (remembering everyone is outside). If you have a room near the pool, you also will not sleep until late as the hotel has entertainment most nights. So all the reviews you read about noise....they are spot on. It is fine if you like really late nights, not if you don't. I'm somewhere in the middle, but it has to be the noisiest hotel I have EVER stayed in.

Having said this, the hotel does look lovely and it almost feels like a village with little streets, outdoor restaurant / bar etc. If you think there is a "lake" in the hotel (as it shows in all the pics), it's not there any more...filled in and made into outdoor seating for restaurant. I spent ages trying to find it until I realised all the pics on the internet are out of date! Oops!

The staff...they will do anything for you. This is obviously most people's idea of the best service. However, some of the bar staff and a couple of the waiters just don't leave you alone. Great if you want to prop up the bar and get wrecked with them, then have them sit at your table at breakfast, lunch , dinner, but really REALLY annoying if you want a bit of family time or if they keep pestering, say, your sister and niece, which is what they kept doing. My 17 yo niece was a bit put out about one waiter who kept on and on...he was offended that she wasn't interested and told me she wouldn't get work in Turkey because she was too fat. Nice.

However, if you like really boozy, loud, lively hotels with overly attentive male staff, this is the place to be. But again, lovely looking hotel and perfect location for the beach which is a few mins walk away.

Hope this was useful....it is as honest as it gets!

This is our second year at Asena Beach hotel and we have to say nothing else compares to the welcome and hospitality we have received from all the staff, they go out of their way to make your holiday one to remember.
On arrival our check in at reception was swift and easy, just what you want after all feeling quite fatigued from a night flight.
We were shown to our rooms by the hotel porter who helped with the baggage, the rooms although on the small side, as last year were spotlessly clean.
There have been many alterations to the hotel grounds and restaurant , it was quite clear that a lot of money had been spent
The food choice as always is plentiful, something for everyone's taste buds
The kitchen staff are very friendly and helpful.
All of the entertainment's team and bar staff are amazing and work so very hard they even remembered our names from last year which I personally admire as they get so many families staying. A personal thank you must go to Ibo, who kindly looked after me following an injury to my elbow and showed genuine concern, he escorted my husband and I to the doctors late at night, making sure I had the best possible care, then escorting me again the following morning.
We have never been to the same hotel two years running as we like to try different places, however we felt we had to go back as it was such a fantastic place, we convinced two other families to book with us they have never been to Turkey before and were very skeptical as to the fuss we made, however we were not wrong, they absolutely loved the place saying they have traveled all over the world and it was the best holiday they have had.
Asena Beach is highly recommended by us, we feel like we have adopted another family and are defiantly going back
Thank you to you all xxxxx

Have just returned from a two week holiday at Asena Beach with my partner Garry and 17 year old son Jamie! We loved this place, and for the first time ever we are all considering going back to the same place again next year which we never do.

The hotel pool area, bars and restaurant are all very nice and extremely clean. But what really made it for us were the pool and entertainment staff who were outstanding. Some of the nicest, funniest and friendliest people you will ever meet. Missing them all already!

We were on B&B and the breakfast buffet was very nice. You can also have freshly made omelettes or pancakes every morning. (Warning regarding the freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast though.... it's not free and it will be charged to your room.) Restaurant staff were very nice and friendly and one of them always found time to come over and have a bit of a laugh with us in the morning.

Only negative for us, which is a pretty minor thing really, was that the room was very small for 3 adults sharing, is very basic and a little dated but you do get used to it and it is only for washing and sleeping in at the end of the day!. There is also a no food and drinks from outside the hotel policy but this applies in a lot of the hotels in the area. Cleaners came in every day though and did a fabulous job!

The staff really do make this hotel what it is! Everyone is always smiling. As far as I am concerned, they are the No1 hotel in Oludeniz!! Hope to come back again soon!! Maggie :)

What a superb time we had. The staff at Asena Beach really couldn't have done more to make our stay more enjoyable.

Lot's of fun at the pool bar and I recommend full participation. Whether it's darts or water polo it would be great to see Anil or Ibo refereeing either at next years Olympics! Never before has either sport been so much fun or entertaining and it certainly made our days by the pool. Thanks guys and keep practicing those corner kicks!

The pool bar itself also offers nightly entertainment and a great place to spend the evening. I've known a few (well a lot of) bar managers over the years but I've never met one as excellent as Dennis. Never stops working but always has time to make you feel welcome.

And if you fancy a quieter drink the Terrace bar is a great alternative. Kenon and Suleyman - two absolute gentlemen - my pre-dinner Jack Daniels chasers have never tasted so good!

We went bed and breakfast but did eat in the hotel on a number of evenings and it was as good as anything available elsewhere. BBQ night is a must.

So thanks to all at Asena Beach and hope to see you again.
