The Tower Hotel is 300 metres from the nearest beach and within easy reach of a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel is backed by forested hillsides, the front overlooks the pool and breakfast area.
The front desk is ‘manned’ 24x7: Booking-in was quick and easy, our bags were taken to our 1st floor hillside room (209) and I immediately felt very welcome. Though very basic, the rooms are spotless. 24hr air-con is standard, electric are activated via the key fob (a small fridge would have been nice). Cable/satellite television, English = BBC news24 only, but that suited us.
There appears to be is a mix of young couples, older couples and groups of girls staying, infact a couple of young girls ‘adopted’ us as surrogate parent figures for the week, but they were well behaved and very funny to be with. We didn’t experience any groups of boozy lads (not even in the town)
Breakfast is continental buffet type, but also with hot boiled, scrambled eggs, and baked beans (plenty of everything)
We booked B&B so only enjoyed an evening meal as part of the Turkish night on Wednesday (2 x 30TL) – the food and entertainment were both excellent, prepare to participate (though not compulsory)
Excursions: We booked the Dalyan River Trip (mud-bath) and the Gorge Trip, but be sure to book anything run by Mehmet Onar via Guide Tours, he has a serious background in archaeology, his English is excellent and can answer any questions you may have, also his delivery is more like a game show host - very interesting and entertaining.
Tandem paragliding can be seen from the poolside, literally dozens can be viewed slowly, spiral descending at frequent intervals – I’ll have a go next year (chickened out this time)
Buses stop almost directly outside the hotel entrance every few minutes - Fethiye is 10 miles away and Hisaronu a little further, both offer more shopping and nightlife.
Tip - Exchange your £ > TL at the hotel reception, I found the best rate here – do not change in UK, and definitely not at the airport.
