We booked this holiday a year in advance and after reading some negative things before we went we were a bit worried. We needent have been!We stayed here from 17th-31st July 2008,2 adults and 3 kids aged 9,5 and 3.After a journey of about 1hr 20mins from the airport we arrived at Sun City at 1am.Check in was quick and we were shown to our room by the porter who took our cases up to the top floor for us.The next morning we saw the lovely setting we were in.Right at the bottom of the mountains with views of the paragliders jumping off,it was beautiful.
We booked a family room for 5(room 326 was ours) which had a double bed, bunk beds and a sofa bed under the windows.Bathroom with bath, shower, hairdryer etc and balcony. The room was quite basic but always clean with fridge, filled with water everyday,tv and kettle.
My dad (who is 75)also travelled with us and was given a room in another block which was up a flight of stairs and then up a very steep and narrow wooden staircase to the attic! He asked if he could have a ground floor room which he got after 2 nights in the attic. We later found out that his attic room was actually in the hotel Tropical next door! The hotels are seperated by a small wall with a pathway between them.Don't know what the set up is here but we could never quite work it all out!
The rooms are in blocks(about 7 in total)set amongst the gardens which are very pretty.
The main pool is very big with a small kids pool next to it.
Surfaces around the pool did get very slippy, especially around the shower and toilet area.Usual pool games if you want to join in.Even a kids game of water polo!Pool area was always busy while we were there and unless you put towels on sunbeds at about 6am then you were lucky to get one but odd ones about if you looked. While we were there we were sent a note telling everyone not to put towels on beds til 8am or they would be put in lost property. This worked for about 2 days and then it was back to business as usual!Pool area was always kept clean with staff coming round collecting empties/rubbish etc.
There was also an adult only pool away from the main pool area which was nice and peaceful. An indoor pool too which was nice and cool and health centre with Turkish bath, sauna, hairdressers etc.
The kids area was nice with a small play area and shed with dvds for the kids to watch.
Our kids loved the animation team, especially Ozzy, who is married to the dj!
2 main bars,1by the main pool, and the terrace bar, which is upstairs past the ampitheatreThere is also a small games area up there with kids games which you can buy tokens for.Service at the bars was always quick,no hanging about.Drinks served at both bars til 2am.After the main entertainment has finished there is a disco upstairs next to the terrace bar.Music leaves a lot to be desired though! Also a small pool bar at the adult pool.
Breakfast is from 7.30 til 10.30.
Food available ranges from ham, cheese, pastries, tomatoes, cereals to toast, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, baked beans, fried eggs and omlettes are cooked fresh when you want them.No bacon or sausage.Tea,coffee, soft drinks and fresh orange.
Lunch was available buffet style in the restaurant from 12 til about 2.Or there is a snack bar serving burgers, pizza, hot dogs and a bit of salad, which is open from 12 til 4pm.Pancakes are served next to the pool bar from 11 til 4pm.Always a queue for these!Tea,coffee, hot chocolate etc available all day from around the pool bar and cakes etc served about 4.30pm.
Dinner was from 7.30 til 9.30pm.On ouf first evening we went for dinner about 7.45 and thr place was swarming with wasps, which scared our 5 yr old to death. The staff put burners on the tables to help and wasp catchers on the lamps which helped, but the next night we went as it was getting dark and didn't have any problems, not a wasp in sight!Go later to avoid the wasps!
The food was good and plenty of it.Stir fry man with his pan of fire lit up the dining area, which came in handy one night during a power cut!2 different soups on offer every night which were always very nice.Salads on offer.Lots of choice for main course.Food was good. Some things were repeated quite a bit but at least it was nice stuff!Seemed to be a lot of chicken and fish.Lots of cakes and pastries for dessert and fruit too.
We had Turkish night and Mexican night while we were there.
Pasta, chips, spaghetti, chicken legs for the kids.Ice cream is served from about 1pm for a couple of hours.Always plenty to go round and queues not too bad.
The hotel itself was about a 5 minute walk from the main street, which is pedestrianised, where there are lots of bars, restaurants and shops and azda supermarket! The beach is at the end of this street, about 5 or 6 minute walk from the hotel.Beach is a mix of sand with a pebbly bit just as you get to the waters egde. There is a bit of a drop into the sea so not ideal for young kids but is nice and clean. The hotel has its own beach which is on the lagoon so it is more lake like and calm.Ideal for young children to swim in.The beach here is not much, only very small but there are sunbeds and umbrellas set amongst the gardens and plenty of shade under the trees if you want it and bean bags too.The kids enjoyed the pedaloes and canoes here(which are free)You are able to get a free sandwich(or 2!)and juice here between 12.30 and 2pm.The sandwiches were very nice too.Other drinks you have to pay for.The hotel has a free shuttle bus to the beach and back 3 times a day.Make sure you don't miss the last bus back(about 5pm)as it is too far to walk.(takes about 10 minutes on the bus)
Olu Deniz is a lovely place with the mountains. If you are into paragliding then you will love it here as there are hundreds coming down the mountains everyday and landing near the beach(or sometimes on it!)
If the kids want a good night out then there is a funfair and go kart track at Hisaronu a couple of miles away up the mountain.
We found this holiday village very nice and the food good and would definately go back again. One of the best holidays we have had!You won't be disappointed!
