“Could have been better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

Two hotels into one. Too many people trying to be accommodated at meal times which cause a seating problem. And if u sat outside you got attacked by wasps. And the bar staff. Well so long as you don't mind listening to their music your ok. It seemed they had a good time around the bar. And if you are young around 20year old and female then you will get served. Change the bar staff please open both hotels for the bar and food please.

I m finding it very difficult to write this review as we stayed as a family (2 adults & 2 teenagers) and has a great holiday and many of the staff became friends with my lads, many aspects if the hotel are great BUT the negative aspects seem to out weigh them. Firstly the rooms were pretty much as I expected basic and dated, but did the job as somewhere to sleep/shower/store cases. Air con was good but only on when your in room with your key card in electricity slot (can use a restaurant card if similar size to slot in when your out to keep air on on so room is cold when you return and also keeps the fridge on). As previously mentioned the cleaning was different each day, some days a lovely towel swan on the bed other days barely touched. What did make me chuckle was there was one very young girl in the room cleaning everything whilst another lady stood out side holding the rubbish bag and passing the brush etc - surely the rooms might get cleaned better if the bag holder also helped!!! Similar thing happened at meal times - they seem to work in pairs - as soon as you put your knife n fork down 2 staff would come over - 1 to push the trolley of dirty pots and 1 to pick them up off the table and put them onto the trolley ....... Seemed a really bizarre use of staff, they could deploy half of the table cleaners to other areas such as behind the bar to cut down the ques or even better to open the big indoor bar in the quiet end which is left totally unused but would be a great area to sit at night Instead of the only bar which is the pool bar in the entertainment side - this bar again had several negatives - we spent a while sat at this bar and wondered shy we weren't getting served until someone pointed out the small handwritten sign above one area of the bar which said "que here" so even if the bar was empty many of the staff made you leave your stool at the bar and walk round to get served - if you were on your own you would loose your seat !!!! The a.i. Finishing at 11 was a problem if you were watching the show round at the amphitheatre you would have to decide at 10.45 if you wanted to join the que for a last drink or watch the end of the show! One night my son joined the que at 11.50 , 3 people in front of him - he was just at the front when 4 Turkish men pushed in front of him and then they said "extra time" which means time to pay for drinks - we had my took any money out that night so therefore my son didn't get his hot chocolate !!! The entertainment staff were a really nice bunch of guys and became friends with us all especially my boys - how ever having entertainment in the amphitheatre wasn't a very good idea - you felt very u comfortable in the hard seats, had to disturb everyone if you wanted to get up and walk round the corner, and round the pool to the only bar. Some nights we were the only English watching and therefore was mainly In Turkish. Previous reviews said you could always find something to eAt ..... Yes if you eat chips n bread. - the meat was pretty in edible somedays they had pizza on or pide or kebabs which yes we're ok. But frequently we had to eat out . We paid over £1000ore for the four of us to have a.i rather than a comparable hotel on b &b . And no where near got value for money ... We went into hisaronu every night for a drink because of lAck of atmosphere at telmessos bar, and ate out many times because we were hungry n couldn't face plain rice - or more chips:( so spent a lot of money . The other badly managed area is the day time entertainment ... Water games start at around -11 for an hour or so and the water slides are on 11 - 12, then in the afternoon nothing on till around 3.30 when again pool games start, water slides come on 4-5 and the restaurant serves burgers - kids have to make a choice whether to go on slides , eat, or play team games , all in the hour where as they d had nothing to do for the previous 4 hours. Incidentally if they had chose the water gAmes or slides for half am hour then fancy a burger they couldn't get one anyway as they couldn't go in dining room with wet shorts !!!!!! I personally didn't even like the smell of the burgers and was sick of chips so used to buy packets of cheese slices from the supermarket and get just the buns & salad from the restaurant - and really e joyed my afternoon cheese salad bun .......... Surely wouldn't cost the hotel that much to simply put put some slices of cheese for non burger eaters !!! To summarise ..... If your Turkish you will have a fab time here! If your British and have ready booked you"ll have a nice time. If your British and thinking of booking DON'T , book a b&b or half board hotel instead ...... Or take lots of spending money to eat and drink out!!

We were a little worried after reading some of the reviews but apart from a few niggly things, we had a really good stay. The hotel is divided into two complexes. We stayed on the soft bar side which is much quieter. The other side is the one with all the entertainments and the night time bar. I'm so pleased we weren't on this side as seemed very crowded and at night, it's really loud.

The rooms are quite basic and could do with some more drawer space. The showers were a bit mouldy but nothing we couldn't tolerate for a short break. The cleaners came in every day, sometimes they cleaned properly, other times they just straightened up the rooms and emptied the bins. The restaurants and pool areas are spotless and the staff are constantly running around picking up cups. We had an issue with a door not shutting properly but this was mended immediately.

All the staff work incredibly hard. Some are more friendly than others and I just wanted to see George in the soft bar smile! We're not really joiners in; our kids are too old for kids clubs activities and we're not the bar fly type and in some ways this was to our detriment. The lad with the pony tail was incredibly helpful and friendly but I felt the animation team were a bit pushy in the evenings.

The food is ok for mass catering. The breakfasts are odd to an English person, I can't imagine eating olives, onions and peppers for breakfast but they have such a mixture of nationalities staying, so they do have to mix things up a bit. There was always omelettes, pancakes or toast for the more conservative diner. For lunch and dinner there is a huge variety of salads and then a variety of fish, chicken and stews. It can get a bit repetitive but just because you're all inclusive doesn't mean you have to eat there all the time. We had a few good meals in town.

The hotel is just a little way out of the main town which is a 5 minute walk down the hill. The Main Street is full of shops and restaurants. It's full of shops selling fake gear and the shop keepers do hassle you as you walk past. We didn't go to the beach that the hotel has the mini bus for as the weather was so hot. The hotel is in the mountains so there's a breeze and the heat isn't so extreme. The minute you travel anywhere else you realise just how hot it is.

We had a trip out to the mud baths, river cruise and turtle beach. There's some hidden selling opportunities in the morning with an unexpected stop at a carpet factory however the mud baths were fun and the turtle beach was a real highlight. Warm sea and crashing waves that quite often bowled me over. I loved it.

We also took the bus into Fethiye which is very pretty and we had dinner at the fish market. You buy the fish then take it to one of the restaurants round the outside where they cook it for you. They throw in bread and salad for around 6TL. Obviously any other starters and drinks are extra but the food we had was fabulous.

The bad side to our holiday was an incident with our teenage daughter and one of the waiters. We complained to our holiday rep and the matter was taken seriously and dealt with very quickly. Be careful with younger teenage girls as they will get attention whether they invite it or not.

Hi first time I have written a review so here goes!!
Hotel was very nice we were on the newer side and some others had asked to move to this side of the hotel as it was nicer, the pool was bigger and quieter than the main pool and served quickly at this bar. All pool entertainment is on the main site so better if you want this type of holiday or have kids. It is loud at night so if you have young kids better to stay on newer side and go to the pool on main site.
Room - small but adequate the ceiling leaked over the toilet for the whole 11 days despite reporting this on many occasions had to sit on the loo with a towel over your head to stop getting dripped on, the hinge also fell off the toilet door. Got fed up moaning about it in the end so just put up with it. Shower was fab and the bed was comfortable. Clean towels every day but bed not changed often.
Food- Was nice I think you just get fed up eating on all inclusive. Pancakes and omelettes in the morning with the usual meats and salad that you get in Turkey for breakfast. Always had something to eat at lunch and dinner, I like salad so it was ok for me, there was always a couple of meat options. There are a lot of wasps at meal times its better to go just as it is getting dark as they all disappear then. Very busy in restaurant sometimes hard to find a table. Went to the Dragonara for a meal and it was fab, eating out very cheap.
Bar - Yes they do serve the Turkish people first who just walk to the the front the beer and drinks were fine though but often served in plastic cups.
Entertainment - is situated behind the rooms only went once felt it would have been better round the bar area.
Talk of the Town show was a good laugh - was not keen on the beach with free shuttle bus nothing like on the pics If I were to go again I would get a taxi to main beach as they take you further on to the the lagoon part and it is packed out.
Location - Is fab 5 min walk to the strip, don't buy the cheap perfume though the smell goes after two minutes.
Staff- I found to be lovely and friendly.
Very strict on luggage weight on return journey anything over 0.4kg you have to pay £15 per Kg take those travel scales to check your case for return journey.
Over all we had a lovely time and would return to this hotel :)

Stayed at the Telmessos for 11 nights end of July into August as a party of 4 (2 couples).
We arrived in the early hours and were welcomed by a porter who showed us to our rooms after checking in.

We had rooms next to eachother on the third floor in Block E next to the slides (I believe this was the new block?)Rooms 537 and 538, no Isuuses at all with the Accomodation.

Rooms were very clean and bedding/towels changed Almost every day which was good.
As far as food and drinks go, we found the food to be reasonable although more geared towards the non English guests but fairly edible, lots of salad at every meal, not a great choice of foods to go with your salad/potatoes etc but you wouldnt starve!. The staff in the dining areas were spot on and tidied after you immediately.

The AI drinks were nothing to write home about, local beer they were serving was tuborg in plastic beakers during the day (Not very Hygenic), Vodka was too strong to be able to enjoy it properly although you can add as much coke as you like. The AI wine was vinegary so reduced your choice really. Soft drinks were as you would expect and cold and refreshing. I would highly reccomend they serve the beer in a glass at all times of the day as it would taste better.

We were not the type to sit around the bar all day and night so we felt we were not appreciated as much as the REGULARS! so for this reason we felt the staff at the main bar were not attentative but hey ho.

The pool area was kept clean and tidy, we used the other side of the hotel which was much quieter with lovely views of babadag mountains. You still need to put towels out fairly early though and do what the eastern europeans do.

The young lad in the shop was very friendly and helpful as were the 2 guys running the bar in the quiet side. A massive word for the young porter with the pony tail, he couldnt do enough and could teach most others a few things in regards to hospitality.

Regarding the check out of the hotel, we asked to retain a room as we were leaving later in the day and asked to come back on the day we were leaving. We did this and were told no rooms were available due to Ramadam just finishing and the hotel was booked up. They could have told us this days earlier to make alternative arrangements.

We asked for facilities to be able to shower before departure and were pointed in the direction of a shower and changing room at the rear of the main reception. The shower was blocked and ran into the changing area and there were bags of rubbish outside which obviously smelt and attracted wasps/flies. They could do with improving this facility or make better arrangements for guests on the last day.

When we checked out they just took our card keys and said OK, not did you enjoy your stay or thank you for using this hotel.

I generally found the Management team very unprofessional and negative,

Hisaronu itself is fantastic with everything you need so its very much a place to be.

Alot of this may sound like a moan, really it wasnt too bad but the negative things would put me off coming to this hotel again. Did I enjoy my holiday. YES.

Room Tip: Choose a room in Block E next to the slides, we were at the back, not great views but very quiet.

We had a lovely holiday at this hotel. Although we did stay in the hotel over the road which is being used as a sort of annex. However as 2 older couples with no children with us it was ideal. Very quite, the pool was lovely as were the gardens. The soft bar also suited us. The staff in this bar were lovely George and Emra, always had a little banter and laugh. The rooms were small and basic, Clean on arrival. However we did notice the rooms were not being cleaned as much. By the 2nd week we had to ask to have clean sheets. Our rooms were then filled with petals all over the bed and floor, we had to go find a broom to clean up, the maids did arrive back much later to clean the mess up they were amazed it was already done. On the first evening my Husband suffered a electric shock, we put it down to static, although it happened a few times, we laughed it of and didnt touch it with out a paper in hand, I brushed past this light one night and it burnt my arm, I called reception and they sent the man, there was a loose wire.
Breakfast was served in our side of the hotel, which was nice as it was chilled and calm. All other meals were in Telmessos side and slightly more caotic. Especially the evening we had a shower and everyone headed in the resturant, as this was the only indoor area. We ended up getting out food and taking it back over the road to our hotel, eating it and returning our plates. The walk to the resturant from our hotel was quite a trot, as there was no cut through, you had to walk right round and then back on yourself as there was a garden between reception and bar/resturant. Steps at the beginning of the garden would have been ideal. We believe this is a job in hand. This may sound like a big moan, but it is'nt, just observations. We had a lovely holiday and will definatly be returning. The food was brilliant plenty of choice, the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Town is literally 200 yards away, But you don't hear it.

Room Tip: Rooms on Marcan side quieter Telmessos side noisier, but ideal for the entertainment and fun.

After reading all reviews was more concerned about the food situation, as I'm quite fussy with food (we took extra money expecting to eat out, as didn't want to be bored of same food-fortunately we never needed to use it) the food was lovely, buffet style, food ranged from pizza's, fish, chicken, spagetti bolognase (depending on which night), lots of salad, the rice was amazing and nearly always accompained by some chicken or beef stew/ casserole with vegtables, the chips were the best, found myself going up for seconds, if you've got children all inclusive is perfect, if they don't like food, they can try something else, without costing an arm & a leg. Throughout day there is a self service machine for Hot chocolate, cafe latte, cuppacino & tea, also they had a filtered water machine that you could top up water bottles with. Staff were attentive and friendly, rooms basic and clean, if your used to 5* hotels this is not for you, Loved it here and went with a party of 12 stayed for 2 weeks and will plan another holiday here, for me - it was simply Paradise. Main part is noisy with music around pool but sister hotel a few steps away is quieter, (am sure if you wanted to move & they had free rooms- it would be sorted) staff are very accomadating and do anything they can to make your stay - a pleasant one. In my opinion I would rate this hotel a 4 star was so impressed. If you've got children the pools with slides are a must, keep them entertained for hours. Before we went on holiday & reading reviews - naturally the negative ones stayed in my head -so was alittle bit weary but never found anything to thrown or complain about but just smile.
