We booked the Belcekiz after it was recommended by friends and we were so glad that we did. We had considered booking a cheaper three star and paying for food but probably ended up saving a packet as Olu Deniz is not a cheap resort compared to others we have visited. By far the best thing about this hotel is the staff, they are so friendly and helpful it has to be seen to be believed. When we arrived they saw we had a child and asked other passengers on the coach his name. When we got off they were calling out to him, saying hello to him by name, we couldn't believe it.
The rooms were great and really clean. When we arrived they had put a cot in the room but the beds were so big we asked them to take this out. The main pool is great, the pool bar relaxing and our little one couldn't go more than a few yards before someone called to him, wanted to give him a cuddle or a high five. The plaza bar is nice although not really for children as there's less room for them to run around.
The food was outstanding with so much choice it was incredible. There was a whole buffet stand of starters/salads, a BBQ grill, a whole buffet stand of mains, a kitchen area where food was cooked fresh e.g.omlettes in the morning, and a whole stand of deserts. Wednesday is curry night, Thursday Thai and they do a splendid Sunday roast...Yorkshire puds and gravy to die for. The snack bar made a nice change if you wanted a burger/ spag bol/ toasted sandwich etc. The only criticism is that it should stay open all day and not shut when lunch is on in the main restaurant. The house wine was fine although if you drink spirits they only offer vodka, gin and brandy as all inc.
The main beach is just in front of the hotel, although it is a little bit stoney and the water shelves deeply. However if you do go you can just pop back to the hotel for lunch and to use the toilet etc. (But do watch out for the paragliders as they land just outside the hotel) The lagoon is only a short distance away and you can get a free bus from the hotel to one of the beach clubs; but be warned, it is a litte expensive after you've paid for a sun-lounger, drinks and lunch and the beach can be a little bit cramped. The water is perfect though especially for children (Sandy beach and is very shallow for a long way out).
The resort itself has everything you need eg supermarket, pharmacy, gift shops etc. If you want a good jewellers I'd recommend Velox just on the main road close to the hotel.
People return again and again and you can see why as you can start relaxing as soon as you arrive. Special mention should be made to the boys on the entertainment team - Eddie, Kenny and Ibo.
In terms of criticism - the snack bar should stay open all day, the kids club should shut at the end of the season and not in Sept, and the ice-cream should be open all day for the little ones (and big ones). We also had a bit of a row with the hotel hairdressers after it transpired that their price list was the start of the seasons prices and they had gone up considerably since then. Basically they quote prices in pounds and euros and when you work out what you think it should cost it turns out that their exchange rate is different to yours and it costs a whole lot more. I suggest you get a price in Lira before you buy anything (unless you want to pay in pounds). That goes for anything else you buy through the hotel like car hire.
