I'm 15 years old and my mum and dad brought me to Turkey for the first time in my life this July and I can honestly say it was probably the best holiday of my lifetime. We stayed at the Ova Resort for 2 weeks and I can honestly say, I don't believe we could have stayed at a better hotel.
We arrived around 5pm and as soon as we arrived at reception we were greeted with happy, smiley faces which was pleasing. Our bags were taken from us so that we didn't have to carry them to our room (which is something I found very helpful) :). Although the room we were allocated was situated right at the back of the resort which you had to go down some very steep steps to reach. My mum suffers from bad knees so this wasn't very practical for her. We were in a "family" room with a double bed and bunk beds, wedged between two rooms either side of us who had screaming babies. The bunk beds were too small for me as I am 5ft 6 and I had to curl into a ball to sleep at night. There was nail varnish on the floor and broken glass in the window. My dad passed on a complaint to reception and our holiday representative who were both very understanding and helpful. It took them 4 days for them to move us, which was a bit of a letdown and a poor start to our holiday, but the room we were then given could not be faulted in any way. It was very spacious, situated above the restaraunt on the corner with a beautiful view of the pool and the mountains in the distance. The room was immaculately clean and the maid service was brilliant. Our sheets were changed and we were given new towels daily. This was where our holiday really began!
The food was extremely tasty, with a wide variety of food to choose from. They had fresh salads, dairy and meat products and they also had a choice of hot food.
Breakfast was from 7:30am - 10:00am; You had a choice from cereals, dairy products, meats, beans, scrambled egg, bread, toast and you could have either an omlette or pancake made fresh infront of you. Coffee and tea is served during breakfast time inside the restaraunt, but then served all day untill 11:00pm down by the pool bar.
Snack Time was from 11:00am - 1:00pm; You could choose from burgers, chips and other snacks as well as ice cream to fill a little hole whilst waiting for lunchtime :)
Lunch Time was from 1:00pm - 2:30pm; You could choose from different chicken, lamb, beef or fish dishes, with the choice of chips or pizza. The menu would change daily so there was always something new to try!
Tea Time was from 4:30pm - 5:30pm; Here you can get cups of coffee and tea, and a plate full of different cakes.. very yummy!
Dinner Time was from 7:30pm - 9:30pm; The food choice is pretty much the same as lunchtime, however there is always a different menu, so you can never get bored of the food.
If you do fancy a change and you're missing your English or continental food, the town of Hisaronu is only a short walk away, or you can travel on the Dolmus which only cost a few TL to go down to town. Here you can find lots of little restaraunts, café's and bars which may serve all day english breakfasts and other food that you may be missing, which the hotel restaraunt does not offer :)
The chefs, waiters and kicthen staff are all very very friendly! Look out for the one chef named Sezar, he's an extremely lovely character who is always very polite and welcoming. Just watch out for his little jokes, haha.
There are 2 swimming pools on site. The main pool is the perfect place for families and younger parties. With music played all day and there's always activities going on with the entertainment team, everyone has something to do! There's also a waterslide that is on between 11:00am - 12:00pm and 4:00pm - 5:00pm with activities inbetween like volleyball in the pool or water polo, team games of darts and activities down in the games room.
The relax pool is more suitable for the older generation who would much rather just relax without being disturbed by children bombing into the pool and splashing everywhere. There is no music, activities or any fun (haha) at this pool, though you can hear the music from the main pool pleasantly in the background. Inflatables and ball games are strictly prohibited from this pool, so you can ensure a relaxing sunbathe! :)
The bar by the main pool serves drinks from 10:00am right the way through untill 11:00pm where you can get all the local drinks.. lemonade, pepsi, pepsi light, fanta, sparkling water, vodka, lager and a choice of jusices/squash (lemon, cherry, orange) and water. Once the all-inclusive has finished at 11:00pm and you're still in need of getting well and truely drunk, you can purchase drinks from the Upper Deck Terrace Bar above the relax pool, where drinks will cost roughly around 10TL, maybe 5TL if you're lucky. This bar is the perfect place to chill out, dance and get to know the entertainment team personally :).
The entertainment is fantastic! It doesn't matter how old you are, there will always be entertainment that you will enjoy. I remember reading a review that was complaining about the fact that their son had nothing to do during the night. I can assure you that the entertainment team they have at Ova are brilliant! Leo, Multi, Tutu, Cindy and Eddie will always do the best they can to make you feel welcome and to get you joining in with the entertainment. I'm 15 and Multi was getting me up the do the kids mini disco - and I thoroughly enjoyed it! There's always a different entertainment programme each night which varies from comedy sketches, karaoke, hit parades, ladies vs gentlemen, miss ova.. etc - you will enjoy everything they have to offer! You will never meet a friendlier group of people in your life, than the entertainment team at Ova. I miss them all so much :(
Overall the Ova Resort is an incredible hotel to stay at whilst visiting Turkey, and it has everything you need to stay entertained and enjoy your stay! The 2 weeks of July that I stayed there, are 2 of the best weeks of my life. A life-long memory which will stay with me for as long as I remember. I love it so much, I am paying for myself to return next May/June and I'm bringing my sister with me! Anybody who is staying at the Ova in the near future - I wish you a wonderful holiday, you will really enjoy it!
Thank you to all the staff working at this fantastic resort, you've left me with the happiest memories ever. Love to Leo, Multi, Tutu, Cindy and Eddie.. you guys made my holiday just that little bit more special. Hope to see you all again! X
Rooms above restaraunt (901-909) more suitable for youngsters as it's very loud at night from Up...
