“Another great holiday at Lykia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Just returned from our third trip to Lykia World Olu Deniz. We love the location and the atmosphere here. The food was as great as ever and the choice is amazing. Our favourite location to eat being the Marina, however it does get very busy. We ate again at three speciality restaurants, the Thai which was not good, the fish restaurant was not as good as previous visits but the Turkish was as excellent as ever.

Our room was in the residence which is long overdue for a refurb. Very clean but dated and tired looking. The towels are awful and the bed linen too. A nice addition this year was the wifi, not good in our room but plenty of good 'hot spots' around the pool and beach areas.

The gardens are wonderful and very well kept, It is a children's paradise, although we did not travel with children we know our own grandchildren would adore it! There are 2 pools exclusive to adults, although we did encounter children at the Residence pool several times, not sure if this is because the parents chose to ignore this rule or that it was perhaps not pointed out very well. Next year the Residence will be adult only.

Certainly will not be booking with Thomas Cook again. 7 hour delay on flight out with no real apology or explanation as to why, no attempt from rep to make contact with us in resort (and we missed the welcome meeting because of delay) return transfer no rep. and the driver did not speak English, not a rep in sight at the airport.

Will we return - not sure, think this will depend on price, Not too fussed about all inclusive as we are not big drinkers. Also the quality of the refurb. Hopefully the new owners will take on board the competition they have in Turkey and have some competitive pricing and will definately book direct next time!

Room Tip: If staying in the Residence request a room near to lifts/stairs, some rooms are quite a hike.

I have just returned from a tennis holiday for 1 week at the above resort. Food, service, rooms, in fact everything, was brilliant! There are 19 tennis courts, but they do get pretty busy, as a lot of groups holiday at the resort.(There were 44 of us). The only slight criticism would be that there are no lifts, many steps and sloping areas, which would be very daunting for someone, with any sort of walking disability.

Room Tip: I think they are all good and not all the same.

We have stayed at Lykia world twice in the past. However, it's hard to find a hotel that ticks so many boxes likeLykia World. we have researched other hotels but nothing came vlise so have now rebooked for August this year and can't wait!

Where else can you find a gorgeous setting, 13 lovely restaurants, 19 swimming pools, really helpful and friendly in house staff, a wonderful kids club believe me I can go on.

We have rebooked as we know what to expect and can't wait.

My fiancé and I went to Lykia World Olu Deniz 2nd May for one week and I have to say it was the best holiday we have ever had. We've always felt dubious about staying in hotels as we have a villa in Spain but we had no complaints whatsoever. The location was perfect, only 5 min taxi ride into Olu Deniz Centre (15 euro return) where there's more bars and restaurants but to be honest, we never left the hotel. It's so huge it's like it was on its own island. Private beach, beautiful views, crystal clear waters, perfect. Food was amazing, mostly turkish but why come to turkey to eat anything else. Overall the most perfect holiday ever. Will defo be returning at least once a year. Too much to review but everything about the hotel was amazing. Will miss the staff at Lykia but hopefully we will see them on our return. Thank you Lykia.

Travelled 30th April 2013 for a week with our 4 year old son & 2 year old daughter. We arrived by private transfer (highly recommended as this resort is the last stop on coach transfers so can take 2 hours+!) at midnight local time (2 hours ahead of UK) to be greeted by 2 staff and given free juice and rolls. We were taken to our room by a bellboy on a golf cart! We were full board plus which means all meals and inclusive soft drinks at meal times and beer & wine during lunch & dinner times. There was the option of upgrading to All Inclusive for 15 euros per person per day.

We booked our flights to Dalaman with easyjet and the room direct with the Lykia website and after speaking to others this seems the cheaper option than a package with Thomas Cook (the only UK agent you can book this resort with). Flight time was just under 4 hours from Gatwick.

Where do I start with the hotel?! I'll have to break it down!

The Room - we stayed in Patara 363 (P363) which had an incredible view of the infinity pool, beach, sea & mountains. The room was huge and looked recently done as the decor was modern. The shower room was big enough for all 4 of us to shower at once with 2 shower heads! The only slight negatives about the room were the lack of bath (not an issue for us, but the kids love a bath!) and the walking distance from the main Village reception and pool area. However this again was only an issue for us because of the young children! Air con was only fully operational between 3-7pm which did mean the room was rather warm overnight. I think in the height of the summer season it will be available a lot more!

The Food - an amazing selection of freshly prepared food every day served buffet style. With full board plus you can eat at 3 different restaurants - Village Restaurant (breakfast, lunch & dinner), Lykie Restaurant (at the Children's Paradise Waterpark - lunch only) and the Marina Restaurant (lunch & dinner) which is beachside and has amazing views. There are other speciality restaurants available at extra cost (steakhouse, sushi, Indian etc). The food has to be seen to be believed, the only downside here was the queues for the freshly prepared seafood every evening!

The Drink - draught beer was Efes which is very nice. Wine & beer included with lunch and dinner on full board plus but a full variety of soft and alcoholic drinks available at the bars with a large cocktail selection also available.

Hotel Facilities - free shuttle bus around the site during daytime hours which is a godsend. Various shops in the main Village area which sell all essential goods but would be a lot cheaper to buy off site. There are about 20 tennis courts (no exaggeration!) a 3 hole golf course and driving range, archery, crazy golf etc all on site.

The Pools - there are 19 pools in total I believe here. We were in most of them at some point except the adult only infinity pool. The pools were spotless, cleaned every morning, always sunbeds and beach towels available. There is really something for everyone of all ages including a separate kids pool with a play park and a shallow warm baby pool.

The Beach - beautiful looking beach with stunning views, only slight issue is the fact it's a shingle beach and not a golden sandy beach which you'd like to see at such a beautiful resort. Again plenty of sunbeds available and a beach bar. Plenty of watersports options and a platform approximately 100m off shore that you could swim out to.

Kids Facilities - the Children's Pardise Waterpark is brilliant, again something for all ages from babies to teenagers. There is a beach area and smaller kids pools right up to a main pool with slides & caves and some rollercoaster style water slides which some adults wouldn't go near! There is a shuttle bus that runs around the hotel complex about every 15mins and stops at various places, nice to have this option rather than walking up the hill from reception in 30 degrees plus heat! Lykie Club for the kids has the following childcare options included in the holiday price - Baby Club (6 months to 3 years) open 0830-1200, 1500-1800 and 1930-2230. Snoopies (3 to 5 years), Jokers (6 to 8 years), Kids (9 to 12 years) and Teens (13 to 17 years) all open 0830-1830 and 1930-2230 every day but Monday. All clubs have weekly programmes of entertainment, activities, games etc. Special mentions here should go to Assan in Baby Club and Burak, Levent and Askim in Snoopies who were incredible with our kids. There is a baby kitchen open 24 hours within Lykie Club which has free milk, high chairs, bottle & food prep facilities and fridges to store stuff. All clubs take a phone number for you and will call if any issues. There is a separate children's restaurant available with earlier meal times for younger children in the evening.

Adult Facilities - we didn't have chance to explore these unfortunately but there is a spa, gym, sauna, massage, Turkish bath, infinity pool and restaurants all available to adults only which looked very nice and far enough away from all the children's fun to be perfectly peaceful.

The Entertainment - 'The A Team' work so so hard every single day working long hours but always have a smile on their face. There are plenty of opportunities to play pool games etc in the main pool but if you don't fancy this there a loads of other pools to choose from! There are other activities during the day such as bingo, darts etc but there was never any pressure to get involved. The evening entertainment was brilliant, again this runs on a weekly programme and consisted of live DJ shows, kids fairy tale theatre, extreme stunt show, live bands, acrobats etc. Very varied. A kids disco is on every evening at 2130 followed by karaoke, disco etc at the main Colluseum Bar. Again you could totally avoid all of this by sitting in one of the quieter bars instead!

The Weather - averaged 30-35 Celsius with blue skies and lots of sunshine. Hot but felt pleasant in the sea breeze. Plenty of shady areas to avoid the midday sun if required.

In summary we had a fantastic holiday and can't imagine anywhere being better for the kids. We met other families who have returned year after year. However this place would be equally as nice for a couples holiday. The 'Lykia' brand has just been taken over by 'Liberty Hotels' so who knows what the future holds. We will certainly be looking to return as long as the prices don't rocket up under the new owners.

I booked lykia world at the last minute holiday for myself, son niece and brother. Our room was booked as a basic room and we had a sea view which was very nice. On the other hand my son and his uncle had booked an upgraded room with more space and a sea view promised- the room did not have a sea view and the room was dark and a little depressing.
We did report this to the Thomas Cook rep but she was no help whatsoever in this matter, we have since complained to the agent.

Lykia world is a great place with nice pools although the water was cold in early April, not all the facilities were open as it was the start of the season so a little disapointing. We would go back again maybe later in the season when all facilities are in operation.

Food is good, but could label better as I am a vegetarian, some of the chefs did not speak english.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view with a balcony.

We would like you to know that we are sorry about the problems you experienced with the rooms. If you could let us know,we would try to make you pleased as possible. Furthermore, our guest relations team always help the guests with chefs who has a spesific issue as like being vegetarian.
As of this season, our resort's ownership and management have changed. Lykia World is a part of Liberty Hotels (Liberty Hotels Lara, Liberty Hotels Ölüdeniz, Liberty Hotels Hisarönü and Liberty Hotels Lykia) However, along with our customary concept and standarts, our consideration for our guests satisfaction at an upmost level will still continue.
In the short time of our management, we have resolved many other things in addition to the bullet points you have mentioned. Moreover, at the end of 2013 we will start an extensive renovation and renewal at the whole complex.
From 2014, we will accelerate the renewal process. The overall concept is defined as ULTRA ALL INCLUSIVE. Names of the hotel, which consists of two parts, will be changed.
