“Pete&Pat 30 years holidaying together, best one yet!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

We were after two weeks of relaxation and boy did we get it! After trying multiple all inclusive holidays without finding a good one, we decided to go back to basics i.e. simple bed and breakfast and eating out.
The Gunes hotel and appartments suited us perfectly. The place is kept spotless and all of the staff (thank you Biram, Zaf,Oktay,Johnny and Buju) could not have been more helpful and pleasant.
The pool area is very pleasant with plenty of sunbeds with areas of shade if you want to get out of the constant sunshine.
The beaches are a fair way away at Oludeniz but this is not a problem as there is a "Dolmas" bustop(a CHEAP minibus service that runs every 3-4 minutes) about 100yds from the hotel.
We were quite content to spend most of the time at the pool as it was so easy and relaxing and the food available was always well cooked.
We ate in the hotel most nights, the seabass and seabream were to die for and usually cheaper than the numerous local (walking distance) eateries.
Beer was also the going rate.
We had a twin room which was a good size and a very effective and quiet air conditioner. If you book direct the air conditioning is included in the price.
There was a single shower room and toilet. We had a small balcony with an attractive view.
There are 2 room appartments also available which have cooking facilities and we will probably go for one of these WHEN we rebook for next year!
Most of the Brits that we met at the Gunes had been back on several occasions, one couple had been back 30 times! That must be a good indicator?

Room Tip: If you have just a room, you can hire a fridge which can add greatly to flexibility. The appartment...

We stayed in the Gunes Hotel for two weeks at the beginning of June. Didn't really know what to expect on arrival but was greeted by Zaf and Johnny who made us feel very welcome. It was nice and clean and we had more than enough space for the two of us in the apartment. We found all of the staff very pleasant and helpful at all times (Oktay!). The food was very nice and we ended up eating there most nights followed by cocktails ;)

It was in the perfect location for us, nice and quiet. We really enjoyed it here and will be returning this year. Really look forward to it!!!! :)

We travelled to the Gunes Apartments in August 2011 with 4 adults and 4 children.
Very basic apartments, but clean and tidy. We didn't spend much time there as there was so much else to do.
The staff are fantastic, the kids have them as friends on Facebook!, the hill is quite steep down to the apartments but my son (who is disabled) did ok. The Gunes meals were fantastic and we ate by the pool most nights. No entertainment at all, except a giant plasma screen which played continious football and a pool table - the kids loved this.
Plenty to do and see, the island cruise, dune bugees, Turkish baths etc. Don't worry about taking lira, they prefer the english pound and you get a much better rate in turkey than at home Go past the water park and the hotel just behind it has waterslides you can use for free. We loved it so much we are booked again for next year!!

Our room at the Gunes was perfectly acceptable, a good size, clean and with a pleasant balcony. A pretty good standard for budget accommodation.

Service was mixed, sometimes friendly, sometimes less -so, but generally helpful. Breakfast was adequate and bar snacks were fine.

Location is at the edge of Ovacik and at the bottom of a pretty steep track so best suited to those without mobility problems. As with most places in Ovacik, a dolmus stop is only yards away, so the bright lights of Hisaronu and Fethiye are easily accessible.

A good choice for those looking for some peace and quiet.

stayed at the gunes hotel for 1 week booked through travel republic , arrived at 4am showed to our room their was a broken light shade above the bed, the bedroom carpet was disgusting , no shower cubile just a drain in the floor no key to lock the balcony door, we asked to be moved the next morning which they did with no problems the second room was a bit better with 2 balconies 1 over looking what was suppose to be the crazy golf course which looked like it hadnt been used in years , the path leading to the room was very neglected with grass & weeds growing in it the rooms are very dated & remind me a bit of butlins in the 1960s . we spent most of out time out and did not let this spoil our holiday ,eat there a couple of times and the food was ok , and the people were friendly

Room Tip: we stayed in A block which was quiet

We booked the holiday quite late and we were looking for a relaxing time away from the main town of Hisonaru. Access to the main town and beach in Olu Deniz was easily accessible by the Dolmus. At the Gunes Hotel we found a very enjoyable family run hotel/rooms/apartments. Peaceful surroundings great staff who were most welcoming and there to look after us if we needed anything. As this is a small hotel everybody including other guests got to know each other and made our stay most enjoyable. If you are not looking for 5 star accommodation but easily pleased you cannot fail to enjoy the tranquility and peacefulness of this hotel. Would definitely return. We asked the Dolmus driver to drop us to Billys Bar or Seahorse on the lagoon, you pay for sunbeds but have the ease of being able to buy food and drinks, apparently the hotel will arrange for a courtesy bus to take you there and bring you back, if you do not want to leave at 5 it is a short walk back into Olu Deniz where you can just get the Dolmus back to the hotel. If you are going there this year say hi to Serif whose dry sense of humour will amuse. Jayne + Dez
