“Welcome to Yakamoz ? only if you have the cash !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We as a 3-generation family have visited Yakamoz Hotel probably half-a-dozen times in the last few years and would totally agree with the aforementioned comments praising the friendly staff and the superbly authentic Turkish food. I have, however, a minor gripe which I did mention when we dined there twice 2 weeks ago, . It is noticeable from the reviews above that all of the praises are from residents of the hotel; my family & I were staying at Ocakkoy village just up the lane & fancied a change of cuisine so we walked into Yakamoz to discover that one can only pay in cash, no cards - debit or credit, which when it comes time to settle the bill for a family of 6 presents a bit of a problem. I recall our bills came to around TL 250+ each time, who carries that amount of cash about with them nowadays and when the nearest ATM's are probably 4Km away, an evening at Yakamov cannot be a spontaneous affair, it has to be planned to ensure that there is enough in the kitty to pay. On our previous visits we had the same problem but that was 6yrs ago & one would have thought that by 2013 payment-technology would have penetrated even here, but not so. When it came time to pay, I queried the system with our waiter and was told that it costs us money to take cards & another reason which I failed to get my head around. It was noticeable that there were not too many diners either on our 2 visits there, I wonder if they objected to the cash-only deal too. Maybe a change of policy might encourage more diners to visit; what would you rather have sir, diners or cash ? Even the fish-market has a credit-card machine ! & Ocakkoy doesn't even exert a credit card charge when settling 2 week accounts Think on it , I would be interested in your response. Having said all that, the restaurant setting under the vines is incredibly atmospheric & the food is wonderful. JW

Thank you for your review of our Restaurant, we are always happy to receive constructive comments about any of the Hotel’s facilities and services.

I am of course, very pleased, that the Restaurant met your standards for food and service and you enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere we strive to create in our rural setting.

I cannot comment on any other Hotel’s payment system, however, we have a number of repeat friends and guests from Ocakkoy who visit our Restaurant during their holiday. We are always happy to welcome and make room for outside guests wherever we can and the cash only principle has not been a problem previously. We also accept sterling which we exchange at the highest tourist rate available at the time, this is done without addition to the bill or charging any commission. We have in the past driven potential diners the 4 km to an ATM rather than turn them away and spoil their holiday dining experience.

The fish market is a fantastic dining experience which we also recommend to our guests, however, it is located in Fethiye town and caters to a very diverse range of customers, I would imagine not having credit card facilities may affect their business negatively, but ATM’s are also readily available in Fethiye.

The ethos at Yakamoz is not to pressure guests into dining at our restaurant, we encourage guests to experience the local area during their stay, most of our guests advise us if they are dining in or out which is very much appreciated by myself, Kenan and his catering team, this also allows my garsons if possible to allocate tables to outside bookings and walk in customers on request.

The number of diners in the Restaurant fluctuates for various reasons depending on the Season, this includes the number of residential guests who chose to dine in or out, excursions including boat trips, and the list is endless.

Without knowing the exact dates of your two visits I cannot comment on what influences I feel may contributed to the restaurant being quiet on the nights of your visits, it may have been any one of/or a combination of the above, but with respect I cannot second guess the views of phantom diners on payment by credit card, but what I am certain of is that if the restaurant was quiet then it was not due to the dining experience we offer, the quality of the food, hygiene, or the service my staff deliver which remain my main focus in the restaurant.

Yakamoz has undergone a number of improvements over the past five years, these have all been targeted at improving our guests holiday experience whilst maintaining the Yakamoz rural charm. I constantly seek the views and opinions of all my customers and friends who use the hotel facilities and the subject of payment by non cash methods has never been a major issue, most guests are understanding and approve of our lack of technology, we have succumbed to Wi-Fi, but we remain television free, again a decision widely supported by our guests.

I will attempt to ensure that my staff advise any customers of our ‘cash only’ payment policy whenever they take restaurant bookings in the future, and again we will always attempt to help any new restaurant guests who "walk in" without knowing our cash only policy as we have on a number of occasions in the past.

Kind Regards, Mehmet.

We stayed at Yakamoz for a little over 2 weeks during July 2013 with our friends
We've stayed in the Hisaronu/Ovacik area some 8 times now and have very much enjoyed every holiday so far.
Having said that the atmosphere, staff, guests, tranquility, food and location of the Yakamoz Hotel is totally first rate and is our firm favorite amongst all of the places we have stayed.
Looking forward to our return visit to Yakamoz next year already.
Thoroughly recommended.

We have just arrived back from our first visit to Turkey and stayed at Yakamoz for 10 days.

The hotel itself is small, but well maintained, clean an extremely friendly. We stayed in a traditional room, and found it to be of a good standard, and perfect for our needs.

The staff could do no more for their guests, and the restaurant was so good we eat there most nights during our stay.

Although the hotel seems to be in a remote location, it's only a 10 minute stroll up the road to the main fethiye - oludeniz road where the dolmus runs every 5 or so - the hotel also offer lifts to the main road several times a day.

My wife and I , have been several times now to this lovely hotel. This will be my fourth time in September , of which I am counting the days !
The hotel is very lovely decorated , with a lovely garden, well maintained with lovely flower gardens.
With rooms , there are two areas, there is the old part if the hotel, which has a more rustic feel, and more traditional. I prefer these myself as I like the rooms . Then ther is the separate more modern block , which is further to walk, but these have aircon .
This is the sort of hotel where the same people tend to book year in , year out. I have nearly been four times, the wife about ten times :) The best thing, is sitting in the garden under a tree with a book, a pot of coffe, and no noise whatsoever, just crickets , birds , goats, and the occasional tractor going past :) sometimes you can hear the clubs across the mountains a few miles away, but not normally. Last was here in 2011. But soooo looking forward to going back this year .
Love this place :)

We have just (sadly) returned from 10 wonderful days at the Yakamoz Hotel.

If you are looking for a traditional Turkish hotel with excellent staff, superb food and real attention to detail then I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

There is a variety of different room types but we found the standard traditional rooms on the ground floor of the main building were perfectly adequate, well air conditioned and like everywhere else kept spotlessly clean.

This was our first visit, having found the hotel on tripadvisor and it wont be our last as we booked for next August before we left!

This was our second trip to Yakamoz and we were not dissapointed. We stayed in Limon Cottage this year which was beautiful, charming and Turkish rustic. The service by Julie, Mehmet, Ibo and Adem and the other staff was again second to none, nothing was too much trouble.

The food was beautiful and overall the hotel is good value for money.

The other guests are so friendly, its a perfect getaway. Looking forward to next year xxxxx
