“A Fabulous Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

We have just returned from a fantastic two weeks at this very special hotel.
After reading some of the previous comments on here about the Riu Kaya hotel we were quite worried and at one point did try to change our booking to another hotel.....well what a good job that we didn't. I can honestly say that we enjoyed every minute of our stay.
ALL of the staff go out of their way to please and the...now famous Rida makes it his mission to be in touch with everyone every day (except Saturday) to ask how their stay is going and are there any problems..you surely can't get better than that. I know you can't please all the people all of the time...but Rida certainly goes out of his way to give everyone the opportunity to tell him if there are any problems.

The food was spectacular and the choice was amazing ..even though we were there for two weeks we didn't get bored with the selection.
The entertainment was excellent and of a very high standard.
Our room was very clean and sheets and towels changed every day.
The only negative we could find was the behavior of some of the other guests...this isn't the hotel's fault.
It would be a good thing if some parents actually talked and took some notice of what their children were doing instead of spending most of their time on mobile phones and laptops.
Thank you Rida and Everyone at Riu Kaya Belek for a really fantastic holiday. We hope to return.

Had a fabulous time! The staff are wonderful, waiter service all day, by the pool, restaurant etc. Ferdi in the main restaurant is brilliant. The food is varied and well cooked, although my only negative was there wasn't enough variation of fruit. The salads were lovely, breads meats etc and the tables at lunch and dinner were always set with a bottle of red and white wine plus water and rose available on requests.
We didn't experience too much rudeness in the restaurant but on one occasion when a foreign 'lady' shoved me out of the way I just shoved her back! the look on her face was priceless!
The drinks from the bar were of good quality, not weakened down at all which has been my experience from other riu's.
We stayed the last week in September and never had trouble finding a sunbed by the pool although the beach sunbeds were all taken up by 9am.

The room was satisfactory for my husband and teenage daughter although the air conditioning wasn't particularly efficient and I dread to think what it would be like in the height of the season.
But the room was spacious and the mini bar stocked daily with soft drinks and water.

The entertainment team were very friendly but left you alone if you didn't want to join in. The evening shows were all professional acts and very entertaining but the best show had to be Gala night on our last evening. The dance group wowed the audience, then the chefs came out holding fireworks ( a bit scary for us health and safety conscious brits!)

We visited the pancake tent on our last day which my husband and daughter both enjoyed. They also went paragliding on the beach for a very reasonable £60.00.

We did an organised excursion to Mangavat market for £32.00 each. Very reasonable priced. The trip included a 45 minute stop at an outlet store ( all good quality knock offs) a visit to the waterfall (very pretty but a bit oversold and the toilets are disgusting which you have to pay to use) then on to the market for an hours shopping which was just cheap knock off stuff. Probably would have been better to leave the market out and have more time at the outlet store. Then a river cruise which included lunch (very nice) and an hours stop at the beach.

Would I recommend this hotel? yes. Would I visit it again? Probably not as there are so many other parts of the world to see. And I definitely wouldn't visit in the school holiday period.

Tip...don't bother paying £75.00 to Thomson for a taxi transfer from the airport. We did. The coach left before us as there were no taxi's available and after waiting 20 mins were given a private taxi that the company paid for. On leaving the hotel, the taxi was again 20 minutes late and Rida ( the guest relations manager, who does a fab job btw) told us we shouldn't have bothered as the hotel is the first to be dropped off from the airport and the first to be picked up on the way home! Not what the thomson reps told us!

We have just returned from a fantastic 10 day stay at The Riu Kaya (19th - 29th September.) We found this hotel to be of an excellent standard. Check in was quick and our luggage delivered to the room speedily. Our rooms were on the 5th floor facing the sea, the room was spotless and had everything we required, it was cleaned daily and the maid always had a smile for us. The towel art was very clever. The food was fantastic in the main restaurant and there was always plenty to choose from. The waiters were very attentive (Hari - made a great job of decorating and looking after our table, especially for the birthday boy and on our leaving night) We visited the Asian and Italian restaurants too and they were top class. The BBQ down at the beach front was a lovely touch and well done to our husbands for producing a lovely meal. The bar staff at this hotel are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. A special mention to Disco Ali and Halil(smiley) - great boys, also young Azeed the pool drinks boy. The entertainment team were great fun and worked extremely hard especially Ibra and Cimo, the October Beer Fest, Garden Party and of course the Beach Party were superb. Lasting memories. Mr Michael now has the dance move to perfection!! We met a lot of lovely people and had some great laughs. A very big thank you must go to Rida, he is a very special person - Rida is outstanding at this hotel, he works extremely hard ensuring all the guests are having a good holiday. We had an amazing holiday with our very best friends Nicola & Stephen and Mamma Jan. Thank you again Rida for everything and we hope to see you again next year.

Helen & Michael

Room Tip: 5th floor rooms facing pool and sea have fantastic view and get the sun most of the day.

This was my second holiday at this hotel with my mum. We visited 3 years ago and liked it so much decided to return again, thinking that a return visit probably wouldn't be as good ! A few minor changes to the hotel, because of the new Riu next door, but I would say that the hotel and staff were even better.
Would agree with all other reviews on here, bar staff, restaurant staff and especially the entertainment team, all made it their priority that you had a great time. Rida was always at the entrance of the restaurant to greet you every evening and to make sure that everything was in order and that you had no problems. The Hotel Manager was also always around, and made a special effort to speak with everyone, not something you see that often, even in other Riu hotels !
My special thanks go to the entertainment team, Simo, Ibra and my favourite Birkan :))
Always smiling faces ~ we will be back
Thanks for a great holiday

We had a fantastic week here. Booked a sea view room so wonderful view to look at, although the balconies aren't at all private. Slightly spoilt if you have a neighbour who smokes! However, that is the only slightly bad thing. We thought the food was fantastic, never got bored at the evening buffet or lunchtime, although we were only there for a week. Went to the Italian which is delicious and the bbq, which we thought was fun, cooking your own by the sea!
The room is clean and spacious, larger than some of the Caribbean Riu's we have stayed in! Staff so friendly and can't do enough as everyone says. Rida constantly checking everything OK. Entertainment in the evening some nights was excellent, a couple OK. the live music in the pool bar is a great touch as a lot of hotels pack up after the show. The Salsa band was amazing! My husband loved the volleyball with Ronaldo and I really enjoyed the aqua, which was actually worth while doing, and the aqua jogging in the sea was a killer with Katya! We loved our week and are seriously considering going back next year. I agree the sittings are a pain, we chose the last one but just went in 20 mins later so the rush died down. We also tipped our waiter so he saved us a beautiful table all ready every night. Went on the Manavgat trip, thoroughly enjoyed and bought loads in the morning! I really recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Pay for a sea view room, its worth it, you don't want to be looking at the newly built hotel nex...

Excellent service the manager Rida always seems to be aroundmaking sure everything is ok and talking to guests
Rooms are of a good standard and clean with a few little extras.
Pool is clean with plenty of beds but the beach is not the best , pebbles and stones.
Food is very good but lunch in the restaurant can be a bit manic
Entertainment is typical Riu but a few bands were on in the pool bar which were quite good.
The animation team are not too pushy to get you to join in the games but there ia always something on if you want to have a go.
Book the speciality restaurants well in advance as the Russians and Germans book days in advance, just tell them your going on trips so cannot come back to book tomorrow.
A very good hotel / holiday and would go back again.

We arrived at this brilliant hotel in the early hours on 6 September 2013 for our 2 week holiday, and what a great holiday it was, a lot of thanks for that must go to Simo, Ibra, Berkan, Ronaldo and the little one(never did get his name) and the girls, all of these make up the best animation team ever. They start about 9 30 to 10 in the morning going round the pool saying good morning to everyone and even have time to sit with you and have a chat, then its on with a day full of entertainment and they don't stop to late at night. They invite you to join in all the games but also leave you alone if you don't want to, never too pushy. After entertainment at the amphitheatre at night which finishes about 10 30, we would then go to pool bar where more entertainment was on to about 12, my daughter was in a belly dancing competition here where she came 2nd. When we had finished in pool bar we would go to lobby bar which was open 24 hours if you wanted it and you could get your late night snacks there. During our stay there was various dancing acts and a great act involving lads doing stunts on bikes, 2 garden parties, a beach party which ended with a brilliant foam party on the beach(messy but great fun, just ask my mother in law). on our last night was gala night which was great, all done by the animation team.
RIDA, often been talked about in these reviews and rightly so, this hotel would not run as smoothly as it does if it wont for this man. He introduced himself on our first day and said any problems or any advise needed just ask. I told him my balcony door would not lock, when we went up to shower before dinner a new lock had been fitted, we asked him where we could watch the England game, he said get a taxi to kadriye (12 euros return for 7 of us) and go to roman bar, the bar owner even phoned taxi when ready to go back, My wife was ill one day and Rida got the chef to boil some rice specially so there wont no spicy oils in it, he got it wrapped up so I could take it to our room for her, when he see her the next day he made sure she was ok.
The buffet restaurant is massive and it still needs 2 sittings for dinner time, we had the 8 15 sitting as this was better for us, the other sitting is 6 30. plenty of choice every meal time and the waiter would save our table every night with our drinks and petals on the table and we had not tipped him, its just the great way they look after you, we went to the Asian and Italian restaurants which were good and the barbeque restaurant was good after we got over the fact that we had to cook this big tray of meat ourselves, it was different but nice. Snack bar at lunch time, loads of choice with plenty of salad, Pizzas baked there and then but get them when just cooked, not nice cold. freshly cooked doughnuts and pancakes at 4 yum yum, not kidding I put nearly a stone on in 2 weeks.
swimming pools great, loads of beds and parasols here and on beach, water sports bit pricey, 9 euros each on banana boat but good fun, got chucked of 3 times. Jet ski 35 euros for 10 minutes and that's after I knocked him down from 45.
we had a room on 4th floor overlooking sea and pool which was great even though we had to pay extra for this, my daughter had room on same floor but on other side but she still had seaview and nice view of mountains. the rooms are cleaned daily and mini bar stocked free of charge, there is a safe in room which you get charged for, I do think this should be in with price of room.
All in all this is a great hotel, not in the best of locations but with staff like this why would you want to go out.
Thanks to everyone and maybe we might be back one day.
from Terry, Melissa, Sophie, Hayley and Elaine.
