“Golfers Paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2011

The Paillon Ayscha represents excellent value for money if you're planning a golfing holiday in the Belek area. I don't think it really lives up to it's 5 Star rating, but I'd certainly be happy to return. The food in the buffet dining room was well prepared and every night there was a good range of dishes, although most appeared every night, there appeared to be some "specials" each night. The a la carte dining was very good and the local wine, beer and spirits all proved to be very drinkable! This trip was a departure from spending almost 10 years golfing in the Algarve and proved to be an extremely enjoyable holiday, especially as the local courses are on par with the best that the Algarve has to offer, with maybe one exception. Our party of 12 certainly made the most of the hotel facilities especially the beach bar which proved to be a mecca for us all after several hours playing golf in the mid morning sun, followed by a swim in the sea. Overall a really enjoyable experience

Like so many my wife and I use Trip Advisor as a fair barometer of hotel quality and performance. Indeed, it has been a significant factor for many years in making our final choice of holiday destination but something went wrong this time!! Papillon Ayscha did not begin to live up to its popular acclaim for us at all. We arrived on 30th September; our room was on the third floor overlooking the gardens and pool area. A nice enough situation but the noise was unbearable at times especially when the hotel began a volume and bass competition with neighbouring hotels at past midnight!! Sadly this was often compounded by drunken, rowdy and obnoxious guests who on three seperate occasions woke us at past 2am in our first week. This was not just people having a good time; it was loutish behaviour at its worst and from groups of people who seemed to scare the staff who, in turn, seemed unwilling to challenge this behaviour!! The food in the main restaurant was average at best, was repetitive and worst, often luke warm. The two al la carte's (Mexican & Turkish) we went to were a bit of a saving grace and the food was very good with the Mexican close to excellent. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the staff? Having read so much about how pleasant they were I guess we had high expectations; it is true a handful (7 or 8) were extremely pleasant, helpful and hard working but the rest seemed largely demotivated and uninterested in everything except the end of their shift!! Having said all these things the first week of our holiday was not a disaster; it was more of a reality check whilst we realised we were in a mean average 3 star hotel and not a 5 star hotel to 'write home about'.

In the end most commercial propositions rely on the quality of management and supervision and on Sunday 9th October and the days that followed Papillon Ayscha completely failed in this important respect!! There was a massive storm that night with winds gusting to a reported 85mph; so bad was it that around 6 local people lost there lives in the Antalya district. The Belek coastline was devastated and on the Monday morning the damage was severe. All beach furniture, awnings, peirs, pontoons and bars etc were wrecked and inoperable; Papillon Ayschas main pool was also contaminated with silt, leaves and other garden material and the pumps were not working. No one's fault but what happened next certainly was. Weather conditions remained unpleasant with heavy rain showers and strong breezes confining guests to their rooms or the public rooms of their hotels for most of Monday (10th October). We all sat there waiting for Papillon Ayschas contingency plan to swing into operation but nothing happened at all; no extra staff, no lifting gear - nothing!! We realised very quickly the hotels objective was to turn the situation to there commercial advantage and begin closing all affected facilities for the winter. It must be said that neighbouring hotels - immediate neighbours and those further afield - all seemed to have a plan and some even reinstated their pools by the Monday afternoon but most by Tuesday. Papillon Ayschas pool was only up and running at 11.30am Thursday. In the meantime holiday reps were pressurised, especially by British guests, to tackle the hotel management about the facilities closure. In the end they reinstated the beach awnings, bars and food stands and all were providing something of a service by Thursday afternoon. I was involved personally in the 'negotiations' to re-open these facilities and frankly I found the management of the hotel clueless as to how to handle the situation especially the Operations Manager who seemed intent on wandering about looking important behaving arrogantly and acheiving little!!

I realise all those who rated this hotel highly did so for genuine reasons but the fact that recently a few others differ should ring alarm bells. Perhaps the hotel is resting on its laurels, I have no idea, but for me it just scrapes a 3* rating at best. Complacency and continued commercial success don't go together - let's hope the Papillon hotel group recognise that and put things right? Me? I am voting with my feet - never again will I give Papillon Hotels my custom!!

Just returned from Papillon Ayscha...Excellent hotel with the friendliest of Staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Food, especially the theme restaurants, excellent. Facilities, bedrooms, swimming pool and beach really good. For those who play golf (like myself) a golfers paradise and wives/partners have plenty to occupy themselves with while playing golf. Belek town is well worth a visit, especially on Saturday (Market day). Will definitely return to re-enjoy!

Room Tip: Room overlooking pool/sea allows morning sun so cooler in the evening.

Excellent hotel and attractions. Ideal location for the golf courses and then time to sit at the beach bar to enjoy the sea view and have a swim. The buffet food was alright but very similer every night. Other facilities such as the Turkish Bath, Sauna, Gym were surperb.
The activities were more geared for families and not alot excitment for single guys as Belek is quiet and Antelea is over 40 minutes away and a 95 euro cost there and back.

we booked this holiday on the reviews seen on trip advisor but we were really dissapointed. The hotel was good but the rooms were not 5star, carpets were not very clean nor was the bathroom floor. Food average but we were barged out of the way by the russians, how rude these people were. The al a carte meals were lovely but we had the last sitting at 8 and we were rushed to finish our meals also the turkish one we couldn;t see what we were eating it was very dark. overall not as good as was expecting.

Have visited the Belek area a number of times for golf but this was our first stay in the Ayscha; we won't be back.
First the positives - the staff are lovely and you are greeted almost universally with a smile and it you try to speak a little turkish the smile just gets wider. We booked standard rooms but were allocated what must have been a family room. We had a bedroom (single and queen beds), sitting room, two identical bathrooms, two safes, two TVs, etc. It was very clean and more than adequate.
On the downside - the bedroom lights were so dull it was difficult to read at night, the room faced the Cornelia Deluxe Hotel, which was just yards away, and you back on to their service entrance so were constantly aware of delivery trucks arriving and staff coming and going at all hours. The proximity to the next door hotel also added to the gloomy feel as it took away the daylight. The food was at best average; it was virtually the same menu every day and you had to be in the dinning room in good time because service stopped very promptly and they anticipated the closing time by breaking down the buffets early. I guess the issue is the all inclusive format where they are clearly trying to limit the cost per head per day.
My advice if visiting Belek is to try one of the other 5 star hotels as this is really only a 3 star.

Room Tip: Anywhere but one facing the Cornelia Deluxe.

8 lady golfers enjoyed a week in this hotel. We could not fault the food, the service or the facilities. The young entertainment team worked so hard to ensure that everyone had a great time -of course you only get out what you put in.
