I stayed at the Asteria for two weeks at the beginning of May. We booked through Thomson and it was supposed to be a Platinum Holiday. I have been on other Platinum holidays but this did not live up to its name. The hotel grounds are very nice, clean and lovely flowers. At the time we went I have never seen so many children in one hotel. It was more like Butlins. The restauraunt was a nightmare, even when we went for dinner at 8.30p.m. Some nights we were lucky to find a table. If we didnt leave a jacket on the chair we had our table cleared when we went for food. The staff worked very hard but there should have been more of them. The children in the restaurants were a nightmare, you had to watch constantly where you were going or your plate would have ended up on the floor. I believe if was dutch school holidays when we were there, but apparently the hotel was only half full. I wouldn't like to have been there when it was full. The chinese restauraunt was excellent but we could only go to one specialist restaurant once during 2week stay. The main pool had the usual games. The so called quiet pool very often had children playing in it. We found the best place was the loungers in the grass areas. The bar staff in particular were very friendly and we never had to wait for drinks as others suggested. The Asteria is actually called a holiday village when you get there. Had we known this we wouldn't have gone as I think these are more for families. If you have children then this would be a great place. If you want quiet and relaxation then no. The rooms were ok. cleaning could have been better. The shower in the bath would be difficult for anyone short or less mobile as you had to climb over the screen rail to get in.

Four of us stayed at Club Asteria for 2 weeks in May 2008. 3 of us are retired and we found the hotel absolutely brilliant. I can only assume that the people who knock the staff must have upset them in some way. Us 4 found them very pleasant, helpful and hard working. They all seemed pleased with our feeble efforts to speak a few words in Turkish. The food was magnificent, and plenty of it. Effes beer is a quality lager and Turkish gin & tonics are a pleasant way to cool down. If I had to find a fault it wouldn't be with the hotel but with not many people dressing properly for dinner, but that maybe just me being a bit old fashioned. The animation team all work hard. If you want a nice relaxing holiday Club Asteria is the place to be. David Kelsey from Nottingham UK.

“Love the Asteria Club”

Club Asteria Belek

We stayed at the Asteria for the third time now. It's a nice place to stay. The gardenarea and the restaurant are nice. The beach is great. The pools are clean. The staff is nice, although most of them don't speak english. A litlle bit of German goes a long way.
The rooms are clean.

The only problem we had there, was when the weather suddenly turned cold in the evening. Everybody wanted a table in the indoor restaurant..... and there weren't enough tables. That was really enoying. The next day the problem was fixed by opening up an extra room with tables, so everybody was able to have dinner without having to fight for a table.

Watch out for wet floors in the restaurant area. When we had only just arrived, my mom slipped and had to be taken to the doctor. The staff was really nice about it and not only escorted her to the doctors office, but stayed to make sure she was ok. The next day the waiter came by asking if she really was ok, and he kept checking up on us all through the vacation.

All towels were clean and none had holes in them (see another review about this hotel). The rooms where kept clean and we received extras like a bottle of wine, chocolates and fruit baskets. We didn't really need all the extras since there was so much (great) food and drinks to be had all over the resort.

The food is great, especially if you like turkish style food. Although you can also eat fish and chips or pizza italian style. The deserts are the best. Sometimes I dream about them.

I think this is a really nice hotel to stay with your (extended) family. The only "but" I can think of is that it really might be too busy in the summer season. We've allways stayed there in October and then the place is great. My children are aged 11, 14 and 18 years old and all three of them enjoyed their stay and are asking if we can go again next year. My mom and dad are in their seventies and they enjoy the place too. My husband and I are in our early fourties and we both like the place a lot.

“Pleasant structure, sadly unable to handle full capacity, thus overrrated”

Aug 2007, two weeks, family of 5, two rooms, "garden view".
Although minor structural work is required to freshen up the place (specifically the communal residential areas and the bathrooms), the gardens and general layout are very pleasant. With the place running at full capacity in the summer holidays, the service was totally overstretched and barely sufficient. Keep in mind that staff is very young and clearly inexperienced (3 trips to deliver 5 empty glasses and ... no water). Some serious managerial input on task re-distribution is required. At most meals, we struggled to find a table and felt sorry for the staff, with one busboy per 15, sometimes 20 tables. On some occasions we ended up with over a dozen plates on our table by the end of the meal, since none of them were ever removed. The food was plentiful but generally predictable, understandably under such conditions. The pools made us feel like sardines except late in the evening, but the beach does make a pleasant alternative and is well kept with plenty of room, as long as you are an early riser to beat the Dutch, Germans and Russians that constitute 95% of the customer base. Should have guessed that with "Club" written in the name, the place would have been noisy, but the pool area was dreadful for several hours a day. Should you consider going to the Club Asteria (Belek) I'd recommend the off-season, otherwise, a lot of better alternatives are available in this price range. Overall, three stars out of five.

very dissapointed with this holiday, rooms were clean but very small and basic, staff were ok but they found it hard at times to raise a smile let alone conversation, this is not a place for us brits as we were out numbered by about 10 to 1, mainly russians, germans and french, the hotel on the whole was very clean apart from some of the crockery at the pool bar that hadn't been washed properly and glasses at the bar that were cracked. The food was ok, most was cooked fresh in front of you in the main resteraunt , there was plenty of choice but it was nearly same every night, not much variation. this is a very busy hotel during the main school holidays with hundreds of kids everywhere, and to get a sun bed near one of the two main pools you need to be down with your towel before 7.30 am, i would go back in low season for a cheap last minute holiday but a week is long enough.
