We stayed at the Asteria for the third time now. It's a nice place to stay. The gardenarea and the restaurant are nice. The beach is great. The pools are clean. The staff is nice, although most of them don't speak english. A litlle bit of German goes a long way.
The rooms are clean.
The only problem we had there, was when the weather suddenly turned cold in the evening. Everybody wanted a table in the indoor restaurant..... and there weren't enough tables. That was really enoying. The next day the problem was fixed by opening up an extra room with tables, so everybody was able to have dinner without having to fight for a table.
Watch out for wet floors in the restaurant area. When we had only just arrived, my mom slipped and had to be taken to the doctor. The staff was really nice about it and not only escorted her to the doctors office, but stayed to make sure she was ok. The next day the waiter came by asking if she really was ok, and he kept checking up on us all through the vacation.
All towels were clean and none had holes in them (see another review about this hotel). The rooms where kept clean and we received extras like a bottle of wine, chocolates and fruit baskets. We didn't really need all the extras since there was so much (great) food and drinks to be had all over the resort.
The food is great, especially if you like turkish style food. Although you can also eat fish and chips or pizza italian style. The deserts are the best. Sometimes I dream about them.
I think this is a really nice hotel to stay with your (extended) family. The only "but" I can think of is that it really might be too busy in the summer season. We've allways stayed there in October and then the place is great. My children are aged 11, 14 and 18 years old and all three of them enjoyed their stay and are asking if we can go again next year. My mom and dad are in their seventies and they enjoy the place too. My husband and I are in our early fourties and we both like the place a lot.
