We stayed at this resort Aug 6th -13th, 2013. After much re searching we chose Club Mega Saray and were not disappointed. We were a party of four. Two Canadian grandparents, our daughter who lives in France and our six year old grand daughter.
The hotel arranged our transfers and the fellow was there to meet us just outside the airport doors.
One important note, if you need a Turkish visa, as we Canadians do make sure you get it before you stand in line for the customs/immigration. After waiting in a long line it is frustrating to be told you have to "go over there" to pay for the visa and then get in the long line up once again!
It was about a 45min car ride to the resort. The staff were very good even though so many of then did not have a good command of English. Yes, the resort does cater to Russian & German people. We did not have a problem with them except to say they were very "pushy".
Because of the lack of English being spoken we missed chatting with fellow guests, which is always nice when you are staying at a resort.
We had a family suite in the Garden Block, it was quiet and we were happy with the location. The rooms were tastefully done, and very clean! One complaint, they need to replace the mattresses. Our queen bed sagged in the centre. Our daughter and grand daughter had single beds which weren't any better.
The food was very good. Buffet, different dishes every evening. We ate at the Mexican a la carte and it was good. We tried the beach grill and weren't thrilled. You have to grill your own meat and the smoke from everyone's grill is annoying and eye watering.
Our grand daughter looked forward to going to the kids club every day. The staff were wonderful
We did feel they could improve on security for the kids club. You don't have to sign in or out and there are people coming and going all the time. When I went to pick up my granddaughter I always told a staff member that I was taking her away.
We arranged with one of the kids club staff to look after our granddaughter so we could go to the Saturday morning Market in Belek. 10€ an hour. Much better than dragging the child through temperatures in the upper 40c! Market was fun, but we found the prices to be high, maybe in Belek they know we are all tourists and charge accordingly.
The evening entertainment was good, to very good. The animation team are a very talented group of men and women. The animation team from the kids club worked with the kids for two days and they put on a great show with lovely costumes that they have on hand. They all got medals and certificates. Our g.daughter was thrilled and enjoyed it all.
Regarding currency, we brought euros with us. We noticed so many Russian people were using American dollars. For us this would have been more economical, but in all my reading I did not see any mention of US currency being accepted.
If we ever have the opportunity to return to Turkey we would not hesitate to stay at this resort again.
