Let me start by saying that one should never expect an All-inclusive 5 star rated hotel to be equal to that of a 5 star London or New York hotel, they never are unless you do a 'deal' with the Four Seasons group (...it will never happen!).
This hotel in our opinion represents great value for money, everywhere is clean, the rooms are of a Holiday Inn standard being comfortable and practical having everything (apart from Tea making facilities) that one needs including a mini bar stocked with beer, soft drinks, water, chocolate bars and salted peanuts! The pool / terrace / beach areas are immaculate, only the furniture in the lobby bar and the showers / changing room(s) in the Spa area drop points with them requiring updating / refreshing.
Once again with regards to the food & drinks don't compare this to big city 5 star hotels, the food is hot, fresh and varied with something for even the fussiest palette. The beer is Efes (great Turkish pilsner), the wine perfectly acceptable comparable to typical restaurant Table wine standards. Local spirits resemble well known global brands but don't quite hit the mark but when you are getting them for free as part of the all-inclusive package you should not grumble too much.
Overall this is a great 'good value' for money hotel; if you want that closer to the big City 5 star luxury but still in Turkey then try one of the mega hotels on Lara Beach but expect to pay double!
Even though the hotel does not publish it as a feature we got a WiFi signal in our room (free of charge) on the 4th floor of the main building. Also don't expect too many English speaking TV channels, you get BBC News, CNN, Euro Sports, Cartoon Network, CNBC and a Turkish movie channel that shows English speaking movies in the evenings.
Let me end by saying that holidaying Brits will feel like they are in the minority at this hotel as the majority of guests are from Russia, Germany, France and Holland. This means that the staff do not get much practice conversing in English. However they all tried their best to engage in small talk with us....lets just say that a little patience goes a long way, the result of this was normally a smile and great service from the Hotel's hard working team.
Last but not least let me once & for all dispel the myth that you cannot buy a Turkish mobile phone SIM card that works in your UK mobile phone - you definitely can!!! Upon landing at Terminal 1 Antalya airport upon exiting the terminal building you will find a AVEA phone kiosk (its right outside the terminal exit doors), here we purchased what's known as a euro SIM card pre loaded with 250 local free mins, 100 overseas calls free mins, 250 local SMS texts and 250 mb of data for 50 TL. You will also need to buy (load into your AVEA Euro SIM line) a 10 TL top up card / code so that the SIM card has a balance that enables one to then use the euro SIMs free bundle of minutes/texts/data. Word of warning - this SIM deal is only meant for short stay holidaymakers, so it will only work for 30 days.
That's it from us, happy holidays!
Go for one of the 4th floor pool / sea facing rooms, we were only charged €10 per night to upgrade f...
