This is our second trip to the gloria hotels. Having stayed at the serenity last year and being happy overall we thought we would try the verde this time.
The hotel feels smaller than the other 2 gloria's and there are fewer resteraunts to choose lunch and dinner from, but there is a regular free shuttle service that allows you to freely move between the 3 hotels. If you are happy to do that you are spoilt for choice. However, if you are full board you have to eat at the verde or you will be expected to pay additional costs. We were half board so it didnt really matter where we had lunch. Though when we did order lunch at the verde, the service was quick and efficient and the food was good.
Service and food- excellent service. Very helpful and friendly staff. Also, service at breakfast and dinner was very quick and efficient. The hotel was fully booked yet we never felt it. Got tables really easily for buffet breakfast and dinner, and tea and drinks were always served promptly. In comparison to the serenity, the service is alot better at the verde. We experienced slower service there on our last stay and they were short staffed.
We have a 2 and a half year old who is quite fussy with resteraunt food and prefers home made style cooked food. I must say, from all the 5 star hotels we have stayed with her, this is one of best when it comes to children facilities. Nothing, is too much of a bother. We are able to order her food seperately in advance on a baby menue form, exactly how we would like it to be prepared. We could even give our own reciepe. This meant she was eating her usual meals rather than having the challenge of getting her to try new meals on holiday. This is a free of charge service. In other hotels we have been forced to order from the kids menue and pay but also found that it consists mainly of alot of junk, fast food which our toddler is not accustomed to. The food was always prepared to our expectations.
At the gogi kids club you can even prepare your childs own food. They hAve full kitchen facilities. This is more suited for those with babies under 1 though i think.
The only slight downside to the service at times was the lack of staff speaking and understanding english. This was mainly experienced when dealing with room service and housekeeping over the phone. Certain basic requests seemed quite challenging. Eg it took 4 trips to our room to understand we wanted mugs for tea! However, we always got there in the end with signs and images! To be fair, it would not hurt either to learn a few basic words in turkish. After all, we are in a foreign country and its good to know that the hotel does employ local turkish staff.
Room: The one downside to the hotel would be the rooms. We stayed in a triple room. The rooms are clean and tidy but seem dated and in need moderisation, especially the bathroom. The bathroom was clean but very dated, not 5 star material and cramped. There was just an average shower in the tub. No seperate shower cubicle. This was quite disappointing. And it was not a tub that even felt luxurious to have a nice soak in at the end of the day. It was small and old. The bathroom was more 3 star. We did view the junior suite to try and upgrade but the bathroom was identical. We would have paid more to upgrade but the hotel was fully booked for the week so we had no choice.
Pools and entertainment:
The pools are great. Good temperature, not too cold. 2 seperate big pools outdoor and a massive kids sand pool area that was seperate. There were slides as well.
The indoor thalaso pool with hot water was a good suprise.
Free bottled water and lemonade was provided around the pool area.
The entertainment for kids was endless. They had the gogi kids club with toys etc and the whole day they had activities for older kids 1.e 4 and above. This included arts and crafts, games etc.
There was an ampitheather and every night there was a show on. Shows included dancing, musicals, circus acts etc. Really good night entertainment. Most of these were child friendly. However they did have kids shows and a kids disco everynight before 9pm.
Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay at the gloria verde. The best is being able to use 3 totally different hotels next to each other with different facilities to offer meant there was always something new and exciting to do and no time to get bored! We would definately return to the gloria resorts!
