SOLAIRE is a brand new, beautiful, Casino resort that caters to Western and European style gambling but with an Asian/Western fusion look and feel to the scene. The rooms are fresh, super clean and modern. Bathrooms are quite sanitary. Four different restaurants, each with their own theme, the FOOD is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS, well prepared, ( my compliments to the chefs), and the wine selection is unbelievably large.
Built in an area that is slated to become the "LAS VEGAS of the Philippines", it is definitely in an up and coming tourist destination for gamblers and non gamblers alike. Solaire is only minutes away from the Airport and they have an EXCELLENT transportation/limo service, licensed to greet you the second you are past the passport and visa entry area. The resort is also directly across from the Mall Of Asia, a huge shopping center that should meet most of your shopping needs.
CONS: To the owners, managers of Solaire, you need to have a serious chat with your security staff. This idiotic policy of not being able to wear hats, even if you are a guest, even if you are just walking the hallways, it's absolutely ludicrous. I have been to Casinos around the world, including Macau and not once has anyone told me I have to remove my hat! Wearing a hat for many gamblers, is a trade mark, a status symbol, a fashion statement, a tradition or just plain superstitious good luck. If you want to be like a western style/American casino....DROP your ridiculous no hat policy.
Also, the rooms at Solaire are rather smaller than I thought they would be, and unless you get the waterside/mall of asia view, the views from the rest of Solaire is horrible. The largest suites were not yet available, except for smoking suites, and construction is still taking place.
Solaire has no outdoor restaurant, no rooftop outdoor bar or lounge area, and no balcony/outdoor mezzanine areas for people to enjoy the view or a good cigar.
Their executive lounge doesnt have a very good view or balcony either. They also don't have any tables or chairs outside of their restaurants for outdoor dining, and won't allow anyone to go outside of the restaurants to enjoy the view.
Summary: Clean, fresh, new, beautiful, great restaurants, decent gambling action, great location, bad views, no balconies, no outdoor lounges, no nightclub, rude security staff, and a ridiculous NO HAT POLICY.
