My kids and I went to Conti's BF and ordered Linguine in pesto sauce w/ seafood, cheesy baked macaroni and lasagna. We also had a slice of mango bravo and blueberry cheesecake. Their food was delicious no question about it. We were there to taste their pasta's since we are already familiar with their cakes as we usually order it for our family gatherings. It was also a visit to the shop to defend my son's school report that indeed Conti's serves some of the best foods in Paranaque. And indeed they do! When i asked one of the staff if my son could conduct just a 5 minute interview to any personnel available, they politely declined because according to them it is their company policy to write a request letter first to set the date of the interview. And i asked another staff if they would consider our request to set the interview now cause anyway it is just some few questions about the history of their business. My plea was turned down again. My heart sank since our budget is limited as the price of food here does not come cheap and due to time constraints we just can't set another date to travel back to the restaurant. While we were eating I noticed that the store manager was actually seated right beside our table, and so I grabbed the opportunity to ask the waiter yet again if there is a possibility that they grant my request. He went to the lady beside our table and without saying anything she just turned turned her head from side to side meaning its a NO. For sure she has heard all my polite requests since she has been there since we were ushered on our table. I told the waiter that I would just like to know if Conti's was just a bakeshop when it first opened in Paranaque or it was already a bakeshop and a restaurant. The waiter again politely told me that he is not allowed to answer my query and there is a personnel assigned to answer those questions. I just can;t believe what i just heard! it was a simple question from a dining customer wanting to know a basic information about their restaurant and their staff couldn't answer? I was once a crew at Pizza Hut and there we were trained to "GO BEYOND THE BASICS" of services. And here at Conti's a simple question being rejected as if I am from the BIR or the City's Auditor! Feeling letdown, I decided to browse their menu looking for something that my son could use for his report. And there it was! The answer to my question written in one of its pages. I suggest that the management of Conti's should reevaluate their policy and retrain their staff. Providing good food and polite personnel is not enough, they should also be trained to "go beyond the basics of services." It means knowing their menu and answering directions or questions from customers. If the personnel and manager on duty knew their menu, they would be able to answer my question and they will realize that it is okay to answer it since it is a basic information already written in their menu. I would have rated the restaurant 5 because my kids and I truly enjoyed the food. Best lasagna we ever tasted and as always the cakes were yummy but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
