“Don't bother”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

Stayed for 2 nights. Room was very basic with poor lighting, only 1 bedside table, inadequate mosquito net, paint peeling from the damp walls, revolting shower curtain hanging off the rail and cracked tiles in the bathroom and entrance. Skipped the breakfast as it was very unappealing and ate elsewhere. Pool old but clean, staff ok but nothing great considering other places we have stayed this trip. The management need to spend some
Money on this fading beauty.

We drove to Natia seaside hotel from Denpasar and it took about 1 hr drive. First thing we noticed the hotel had a very limited parking space and we had to leave the car key with reception. The room was spacious and oddly designed - somewhat O shape. The beds were clean but the room and bathroom definitely required some maintenance. You can notice water dripping marks on the wall and wall pealing. The towels were clean but not smoothly ironed so they gave an impression of having been used.
The hotel gave us welcome drinks and 2 bottled water for each room on the first day. On the second day, they did not even give bottled water for the room. Upon inquiry with the front desk, we were informed that it was hotel's policy to give bottled water only on the first day unless you stay more than 3 - 4 days. The same was true for soap. Incredulously, the front desk even asked how we used up 2 very small bars of soap in 1 day?. Maybe they thought we ate the soap?.
Breakfast on the seaside restaurant was ok with choices of continental, american, and simple indonesian breakfast.
Paying with credit card was another problem. The hotel charged an extra 3 % when the guests paid with credit card. So please prepare cash if you don't want to be charged extra.

Room Tip: Choose the only 2 rooms facing the sea if they are available. The rooms closest to the road will be...

Booked online sight unseen, for about Au$40 a night thru Agoda.

All but 2 of the rooms [those nearest the pool at the 'front' ie beach end] have no windows whatsoever, which makes the rooms very dark - there is a skylight at one end of the room, but the rooms still tend to have a very 'closed in' feeling.
Not a room you would want to spend a lot of your day in.

But thats ok, because there is plenty to see & do around Candidasa.

There are a few excellent restaurants within walking distance [10-15 mins], and if its late or you are tired, many of the restaurants are more than happy to provide a pick up / drop off service [with the exception of Le 48 - overpriced, staff not friendly or helpful, wouldnt even call a cab for us].

Back to the Natia - the staff are friendly, yes you'll be asked every day whether you want a massage, or a snorkelling trip etc, but that happens everywhere in Bali.
Breakfast is included, and is a typical mix of western and indo food. Im not a big breakfast eater preferring just fruit and juice, but the one morning I ordered toast it was inedible. Think stale bread, toasted, then left for about an hour before being served.
I cant comment on the other food on offer as I didnt have any, there being [as mentioned] excellent restaurants close by with more of a selection at better prices.
I recommend Vincent's, and La Rouge. Have the steak, its Australian cryovac beef, and the best steak I have ever tasted.

The pool is a very small [4 m on a side?] infinity pool overlooking a sea pool. There are steps down to this beside the pool.

The rooms have aircon, either a king or 2 king single beds, a stocked bar fridge, TV, lots of cupboard space, and an adjoining door into the next room [locked during my stay].
There is a wooden canopy over the beds, with a main room light above it - really poor design as the canopy blocks out most of this light, and with no windows every bit of light is appreciated.

Just for one night only..... Average on the verge of poor in terms of ratings.

Rooms were large but dark, towels thin and very frail, food simple, pool small, hotel old.
Our rooms has ants running up the walls, a dead cockroach in front of the door steps, a mice ran off with the pineapple slices from the welcome fruit platter placed on the table in front of the room..... Kind of funny actually.... Well it is the outdoors....

Staff friendly and the hotel was quiet and inexpensive. Perhaps for the same price, one can get a better place to stay.

I stayed at the Natia twice this summer, Once, at the beginning of my holiday - and I chose it because of the location (and the excellent web page) - and once at the end of the holiday - because I liked it so much at the first time.
It is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and very clean, the place is quite central but quiet, the pool is fantastic and the food excellent and what I found most important and impressive: the staff is extremely friendly. Especially , Gusti, the manager who not only always had time for a chat but also was a great source of information about Balinese culture.

Go there , but always keep a room free for me

The hotel is really not what it looks like on its website. The room is ok, enough space and a pretty good bed but the rest is a bit old fashioned. We didn't feel very comfortable here and there are much better hotels for the same or even less money. Maybe our experience had also something to do with Candidasa itself, nothing to do there and the town (read: one long street) is a bit old fashioned as well. Don't go!
