“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2010

We have just returned after three great weeks. Firstly we were a bit apprehensive having been to Goa 20 times and this was the first time we had gone all inclusive. From the moment we arrived till we left we had the time of our lives. The reception was managed by Ganesh and Sanjay who looked after us nothing was to much trouble. The guest relations girls were fantastic. Rooms were nice we stayed in the Grand club rooms. The restuarants and bars were run by James who did a fantastic job. The food was perfect the kitchens managed by the Head Chef and Ramesh were amazing the menus were perfect we even had shepherds pie, the Mango restuarant was fantastic and the steaks always perfect mashed potatoes out of this world. The gardens well maintained and thought out the ladies did a fantastic job keeping all areas clean and tidy and were always smiling. Yes we had a really fantastic time and met some fantastic people the only downside were the taxi drivers they were so greedy no wonder they were not busy we hired them to the nearest village then got our own taxi driver who was less than half the price they were trying to charge they will not allow outside taxis to pick you up. The hotel WiiFii is not free and you require to get a password from reception this costs approx £5 and lasts for an hour as soon as you activate your computer the hour starts and has to be used up you cannot log in again. But hey your on holiday go enjoy yourself at the best all inclusive hotel in Goa we did.

We arrived at this hotel and the manager insisted the price was 13000 a night. This hotel as rated by the tourist office in Goa in India is 3+. He said it was 5 star and the cost he quoted was more expensive than what we paid at the Taj Exotica a 5+ hotel and I can tell you it was not at all on the same level as the Taj. We had a blackberry and went online to their website to find out the price was actually 6150 a night!!!! When we gave feedback to the general manager he tried to back his manager up and say it was rated 5 star. We found this unbelievable just having come from the Taj which was fully booked thats why we had to change. Putting this aside this turned out to be a good value hotel that had excellent staff (except the managers), great food. great evening entertainment. clean rooms and all inclusive food & drinks inc alcoholic. why they tried to lie is beyond me. I have since found out from official rating source in india they are rated as a 3 star. so be careful about getting cheated but all in all a good hotel

I stayed here two weeks at the beginning of February 2010.
I’d previously been to this hotel back in 2005, and there have been some improvements. Particularly the main bar and restaurant have been much improved and made more comfortable and attractive.

The food in this hotel has a fairly strong Indian bias though there are some concessions to those folk who insist upon European food, and there’s quite a bias towards vegetarian options. The food quality and variety I found to be excellent and I enjoyed it all.
There’s also an a la carte restaurant which is available to guests at no charge twice per week and, in my opinion, this really is excellent with a fairly wide menu. I had some great steaks there.

The hotel is located in a quiet area, a short walk from the excellent Arossim Beach, which is miles of clean sand with just a couple of beach shacks. One can have a mile of beach to oneself, except for the tiny sand crabs, and birds hunting them.
There are a couple of local small shops nearby. The walk to the local town is a very pleasant 15 minutes along a quiet road bordered by palm trees with many attractive Portuguese villas.

The hotel pool is pleasant but the usual problem of availability of sun beds exists. Almost all sun beds are claimed around 6am by folk laying towels – and then going back to bed. Often beds are claimed and yet not occupied all day.
There does seem to possibly be a minor scam operating where some pool maintenance staff claim beds on behalf of hotel guests very early in the morning – and then earn tips for this.

The all-inclusive package provides drinks 12 hours each day – local brands only, though the wine provided is a pretty good Portuguese variety.

The animation team work constantly during each day to keep folk entertained and happy. Evening entertainment in the hotel is fairly typical 3 star standard – and ends at 11pm each night.

Rooms are a reasonable size, well maintained, and clean with plenty of storage space. The TVs provide a fair choice of channels including HBO and the BBC Entertainment channel.
Wifi internet charges in this hotel of approximately 5 UKpounds for one hour are fairly high and maybe should be reduced.

The staff at this hotel are all very friendly and helpful, and Sophie, who looks after guest services, is really good and deserves special mention. Any minor issue or problem is quickly attended to.

I did two organised excursions during my stay.

A three day trip south to Udupi by train and into Karnataka to see wild tigers and lions was really excellent and great value for money.

An afternoon excursion into Margao to see the annual Goa carnival was great fun and provided excellent photo opportunities.
Beware paint, flour and water bombs though, and also there’s a scam where tourists are promised viewing from a Portuguese house in town (for a fee) but one isn’t told that the house owner has also invited about a hundred relatives and friends. So if one wants to actually see anything, one has to go into the streets instead.

We had a 2 week holiday at Heritage Village in December, fabulous weather and clean rooms with a damn good shower....always a bonus. Top Tips don't expect to eat there every night because you will get sick of the same sort of thing reoccuring (dahl, chicken on the bone in curry, rice, rice and more rice) however there are lots of places to eat locally at a reasonable cost. Befriend a local taxi driver ( not the ones outside the hotel - a rip off) they will take you anywhere and wait for you for EVER! (at a cost of 50rupees an hour 70p)!,
Nightlife is suited to the russians and indians........Karaoke, bingo magic show - not our cup of tea. Inclusive alcohol was absoluely fine and if you want good service in the bar tip 100 rupees early on and the drinks will keep coming!!
Fellow guests were extremely friendly - many returning guests. We had a run in with reception where we felt we were treated like criminals over a travellers cheque .........and the rate was very low!
Music around the pool during the day was a bit annoying... they could lose that and no one would mind in this day and age of MP3's etc.
Beach was beautiful and we walked for miles anad were only occasionally hastled by sellers.
A good spot and a good introduction to India.

Hard to believe that the Hotel has improved so greatly from last year, had a fantastic time again and will be returning in 2011, The hospitality is amazing all of the staff put in 100% and with so many repeat guests the previous years holiday resumes without effort..
Must mention that Mondal the Executive Chef prepared the best Lobster I have ever eaten and you should not miss the dining experience in the Mango Terrace, if you feel the need to venture out for eats try the Delhi Darbur or Brazilian Fusion

We are writing this review after just booking the hotel again for 2011 and we don't normally return to any resort as we believe there is a big world to be explored

Goa is a destination not to be missed but our holiday was made complete by our experience at the Heritage Village Hotel which is located within a quick walk of the warm Arabian Sea.

The experience starts at the welcome we were given in reception and ends at the sad good byes. It is impossible to identify any particular member of the staff, we were made to feel at home by all the staff, from the efficient ladies and gents at the reception desk to the cheery hello's of the hard working gardening staff. The service given at all times was impeccable and we wanted for nothing. We had a problem one morning with a small leak in the bathroom which was efficently repaired and the floor cleaned within an one hour with no fuss. The cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel as a whole was incredible, one morning we even saw the fan blades being dusted ! The gardens were kept watered and weed free with the gardeners appearing to be waiting for leaves to fall from the tree's to be immediately picked up.

The dining room provides a good selection of food catering for the visitors from many countries and we did not see the same menu twice, we were able to have a constant supply of water from coolers located around the hotel and had confidence in having ice in our drinks. The Mango Terrace is a gem with a high quality a la Carte menu.

If it is the little touches that make a holiday the Heritage Village Hotel has succeeded many time over, from the personalised name on your room to the excellent theme nights. The facilities are clearly of a high standard with a very clean swimming pool with ample sun beds and towels, comfortable dining room and bar and the fabulous Mango Terrace.

There was entertainment every night with the staff pulling out the stops twice a week at the excellent themed nights with everyone eating from a huge buffet set around the pool..

You must also spend a couple of hours at the spa and experience profesional treatments.

If you must leave the hotel taxis are available outside with a set of fares to most popular locations. The beach has a selections of Beach Shacks where you can take advantage of the sunbeds and good food and drink day and night.

Ok now for the bad point....the airport... after fighting off the porters we then had to queue just to get through the door, yes there was a security alert in place but we would think even on a good day it would be pretty grim with long queues and minimal facilities, very crowded and extremly hot. only one security scanner and we took nearly a hour to complete the formalities, our passport was checked 8 times, 6 time within 30 mts, it appeared that people were just justifying their job and it was a very wearing experience. (I would love to try to organise the queues). The 2 duty free shops !!! were a joke and the snack bar is very overpriced with a diet coke at £1.80.

We have just returned from the Heritage after returning for the last 5 years. Guitry Velho the new General Manager has made some excellant changes and still retained the freindly welcome that makes visiting here such a pleasure! There is a new head cheif cooking a greater variety of dishes and food and even make dishes on request. The little changes in the dinning area have made such a difference, cloth napkins dinner and evening time, hot drinks and freshly made nan bread now served to you at your table. Both the day and night staff are so freindly, smiling and always asking if you are ok or need anything.
When you are a repeated guest they really do look afer you. little extras in you room that make you feel so speacial. The hotel, grounds and pool are as spotless as ever and the beach is lovely and clean with sunbeds and parosols available free of charge. the hotel provides towels to use by the pool and at the beach, they are available clean everday 2 per guest. I took my freinds with us for the first time this year and we have already booked to return next year. Because this hotel is so popular with repeated guest you have to book early. If you want the beauty of South Goa, spoltless hotel and excellant staff and food this is the place for you. From Julie, Tony Gledhill and Sue, Alan Woodburn from Liverpool UK
