“One of the best Resort Experiences”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

From the moment I entered the resort I was treated in the best way. The service is seamless, the food is amazing and quickly prepared. The room was gorgeous, and the view was stunning - I had the balcony overlooking a jungle.

The internet was fast and the bathroom was great. The only negative thing about the hotel was that the water was lukewarm, and the bathroom tub lacked a proper water stopper, so I couldn't fill the bathtub to take a bath.

My 4 friends and i visited the resort for 5 nights and 6 days. The resort was absolutely impeccable. The staff really makes you feel at home. They greet you with love even if you are acting like a rowdy teenager. The rooms are spacious and neat. The beds are very comfortable and i really enjoyed lazing out on them. The resort was about 20 minutes away from all the clubs and famous beaches but the drive is so beautiful that it awakens the William Wordsworth in you. This is the best resort in Goa, as after a long drunk night you can relax in the lap of nature and enjoy the resort the next day with all the groovy coconut trees waving at you. The food was the finest i have had in a long time. The chief, on request goes out of his way and makes special dishes for you. I would highly recommend this resort as it simply gives you strong-good vibes and the service is impeccable, with sumptuous food.

We just needed a hotel very close to the Goa airport for 1 night! We asked to be picked up at the airport - but there was nobody! so we took a prepaid taxi - no problem, when you know what to do. We arrived at midnight and the check-in was speedy. We enjoyed our breakfast and the junglee enviroment. It was quiet and clean. Nothing to complain! very good for a short stopover. I was positively surprised to have this super green nature with an airport hotel, with some monkeys, birds and butterflies thrown in!

We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. and cant find words to describe terrifying experience. AC was leaking like waterfall for all the days. Basic things like Intercom Directory, Restaurant Menu card etc. had to be called with rigorous followup. Including Manager no one accepts faults and above all, Restaurant food was extraordinarily horrible / tasteless and endlessly sick.

Please avoid this resort, if you really don't want to spoil your leisure time. This is my authentic openion. Whole our family is regretting for this stay.

Dear Viewers,

We thank the reviewer for taking out time to give Trip Advisor feedback on staying in our Family Suite during his three night stay in Goa.

Our Family Suite (4 suite’s) is our best seller and availability has been a scarcity. The Suite have wooden flooring with two bed rooms, attached independent bathrooms and small balcony to one, a Living room with big balcony and a Kitchenette is ideal family first choice. The Directory and the In-Room Dining menu is in place in all rooms and not in every room of the suite. The wooden floor in the suite would be a puffed mountain if we were to believe the AC leakage as described and attached photograph doesn’t establish the mentioned facts. On knowing the food at the restaurant not been palatable one would decline the manager’s offer for a complementary dinner.

Notwithstanding the foregoing we regret not having met the expectations of the reviewer and hope that his next visit to our hotel will be a happier one.

Yours sincerely,

Victor Alvares

We were 3 adults and 1 child and stayed from 31 Oct - 5th Nov in a 2 Bedroom apartment. The apartment was clean and spacious.Kitchen was functioning, but the wooden drawers were somewhat dirty and stinking of some chemical. We were provided with a good microwave upon request. The bathrooms were good and spacious but on checkin our masterbedroom bathtub had mosquitoes in it which was cleant, the slope of the bathroom was not there so lot of water accumulation if any water flowed out of the bathtub. The toilet flush and handshower were both broken which they did not fix till checkout as they said it is a major problem and bathroom needs to be broken for that. Having known the problem they allotted us the room without hesitation because other apartments were in much worse condition than this one. And yes I agree with the previous reviewer there are lizards in each room which are permanent.

MJ's Restaurant food is good and tasty but very overpriced for the small portions. Restaurant staff is always grumpy and service comes with a frown...not a single service with a smile to be seen in all 5 days..but on checkout day they were very cheerful!

Staff is very laid back but you get what you need in the end. The beaches are far away so we have to take their shuttle or hire a cab which takes 450 bucks for a trip to Bogamallo beach which is the most gorgeous beach in the vicinity with a good beach and great beach shacks. Joet's and Claudi's corner are a must visit for a complete food pilgrimage in Bogamallo.

The most strange thing is that most of the resort is mostly empty and yet if you wish to extend your stay by even a single day they say no upfront and pretty adamantly and rudely. Everyone sings the same tune that their hotel is going to be full by tomorrow but we never saw any of that till we checked out and yet they are always full...something is more than fishy because as it appears most of the rooms are out of order they have nothing much of functional rooms to offer. We were just turned down sharply by their reservation staff who never even put on a synthetic smile during our entire stay and except housekeeping ( housekeeping doesnt have any repair maintainence powers) no one even bothered to check upon us inspite of notifying of so many complains with out apartment...be it the manager or anyone else from the hotel admin which was very rude and in the face.

All in all it is a very beautiful place in a quiet locality..totally destresses you but then it is better if you spend most of the time in the beaches and beach shacks as the hotel issues do stress you out totally.

Me, my wife and my 2 yr old son stayed in this resort from 6th to 7th November. Rooms are good and spacious, however big beetles were crawling in our room and there was a big lizard in the kitchen area of the room. Luckily we are not too afraid of reptiles or insects, so lived with them during our entire stay. Infact I had to rescue the lizard twice from the kitchen sink since it was unable to climb out after falling into it :-)
Even the attitude of the staff and service is really poor. We were not offered any complimetory welcome drink, and we didn't ask for it since we didn't knew they offer it. However next day we saw them offering it to foreigners who were checking in. Even at the restaurant when we sat at a table meant for 6 people, we were told to shift to a four seat table since we were couple with a child which is perfectly alright. However just 5 mins later two foriegners came and sat at the same table and they were allowed to seat.
Restaurant is full of comwebs on the lamps and side of the roof and it seems it's not cleaned regularly. They didn't even offer us any complimentory starters during lunch and dinner. We came to know that such complimetory starters are offered only when we saw them being offered at the dining table next to us. We were offered the same later on only when we asked for it. Serving time is also very long. Make sure to order everything at one go, else if you reorder anything in middle of the meal they take atleast 20 mins to serve it, even as simple as tava roti !!!
Given that it's a Best Western property, it's definitely not upto the standards that one expects from it.

Dear Viewers,

We at Best Western Devasthali are suprised to read the review of the reviewer who stayed with us for one night i.e. 6th November. True and correct reviews are valued, in this case it’s fallacious and I state precision as below substantiating the same with CCTV footage.

The reviewer arrived at the hotel at about 12.34pm on 6th November 2013 having booked a deluxe room. Traditional welcome with Aarti Tikka and flower garland greeted him on arrival, prompt check-in and ushered to Executive Suite FREE UPGRADE. We do apologies for having missed out in serving the welcome drink.

Our restaurant opens at 12.30pm for lunch and normally set before time, but these days we had extended breakfast hours to accommodate our guest been full house. The reviewer walk-in at 12.00noom and occupied a table of four and not six as mention, the steward requested him to seat in a cleaned section as the Housekeeping team was still at work in that section. At about 12.18pm a group of 10 UK national came and occupied a table of 10 just beside the table of four and not two foreigners on the same table as mention there by forcing the Housekeeping team to abandon the cleaning task and FnB to start restaurant operation beforetime.

Restaurants are revenue generating entity and have no illusion of complimentary starters during meal time. The one the reviewer is refereeing is request obliged for onion rings to keep the child occupied as he enjoys lunch Khichdi, Mushroom Subji and Pulka.

We were not perfect but all the other constructive reviews have helped us to improve and we are confident about the basic services we provide. The proof of which is in all the other reviews written by other guests.

Best Regards,

Victor Alvares

Positives:
1. Comfortable, clean and spacious rooms - Exactly like what is shown on the website
2. Great food - Limited menu but quality trumps quantity. Whatever we ordered from the in room dining menu was delicious. Plus, very punctual, no delays in serving the food at all.
3. Helpful staff - Very courteous and friendly staff. Our complaints were promptly attended to and fixed.
Negatives:
There's really just one negative and that is - the resort is far from all the popular beaches and attractions.
If you do not mind hiring a vehicle and driving around, then this hotel is a great place to stay.
