We stayed here for our second week in Goa, having been in the south in a superb hotel - so we did it the wrong way round. It was a timeshare exchange with RCI - usually of a high standard and we were immediately charged £32 for utilities, something that's never happened before to that extent in years of exchanges.
The room was outdated, the television had no decent picture, the balcony furniture was shabby/dirty, there was no hairdryer - something we expect in these exchanges and the wardrobe did not have any hanging space for skirts or dresses - i.e. nothing long.
We were not all inclusive which seemed to completely confuse everyone - it was a problem when we tried to eat there and noone told us anything about the facilities. It was only by chance that we discovered a very pleasant buffet with entertainment on the upper terrace on our last night.
The pool had limited beds and it was difficult to get adequate shade - something essential for me - a skin cancer survivor.
The best part was outside the hotel - plenty of eating places to choose from though it was worth taking a taxi to Mandrem for a really quiet beach in the day - good beds under a roof with towels provided - you just need to order refreshments from the shack.
Raj jewellers, just outside the hotel on the corner is worth a visit - an emerald ring and pendant cost me just over £600 but has been valued for insurance to have a replacement value of £3,350 - i.e. 5 - 6 times what I paid.

cancel your hoilday IF YOU CAN! we went in 2006 and loved it! it was clean and friendly. we went in Nov 2007, and hated it! the manager had changed and wait for it..... it was the head cheif, who was now the waiter. He's really let it go down hill. they changed our rooms 3 times in one day, we were so tied, after a very long flight! baring in mind i had a 3yr old daughter, they did'nt care, we unpacked 3 times. i have read afew reviews where people have said they have had their sheets changed everyday{ha ha} they never changed our sheets, from the last couple that stayed their! there were was period marks on the sheets and althrough the stay the room was not cleaned proply. we did tip the cleaners 100rs everyday and told them to change the sheets, but they did if you stayed in the room, but some would say the new manager tells them off if they do! if your room faces the pool, you wont get any sleep, with the cheep horrr singers they have in. they bum like the white people and than make jokes about them being cheep! Our clothes went missing in the laudary. the hotel cheif manager did'nt want to no. evey one there was moaning and saying never again! it was like a 1 0r 2 star no way 3 star

“Our fantastic holiday in Goa”

We were at a bit apprehensive about staying at the Sun Village, as we had read the reviews on Trip Advisor before we left. When we arrived we realised we had nothing to worry about.
The hotel was lovely, the rooms were nice maybe they were a bit old fashioned but that didn't bother us.
The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent with plenty of variety with the different restaurants, bbq's etc to try.
The pool was nice, but we only spent a couple of days by the pool as it was too hot, we went to Baga beach or one of the quieter beaches, which our taxi driver recommended to us .
We went to the Big Banana. a shack on Baga Beach where we well looked after, the food there was fanastic too.
There are a lot of sellers on the beach, but we enjoyed talking to them & buying from them, you can buy anything you want there & if they don't have it they will get it for you! We needed some batteries & a memory card for our camera, 20 minutes later & one of them came back with them for us!
We enjoyed our holiday that much we were sorry we had only booked for two weeks & not three!

Hay this is an amazing place - I warn though the hotel has steps and lots of them! Plus everyone moans there is not enough sun beds - but we english like to moan!!

The food I thought was great - buts it not the caribean so dont think you can eat english....there is three resturants the main one which is buffef for b/fast/lunch/dinner..there is an a la cart you can eat in twice, plus lawn dinning and BBQ. Dinks are good too - free till 11.00 the very cheap.

Theres not too much local but enugh to eat out for a change and have a few drinks. We went to East Meets West and Titos resturant and both were great - entertainment at both too.

The local beach - baga is a little crazy and there are lots of shacks and people trying to sell you things - not relaxing but great fun to barter. We went to Angelheart shack - best food on the beach. To get a to a relaxing beach you HAVE to go to maderm beach - its the most beautiful beach Ive ever been on. Get a taxi to Dunes!! Morjim is also very nice.

If you want to do the local trips - travel agents are con!! Spice place, elephants, waterfalls, temples .... get a cab for a day - we did it all. Elephant was great and water falls were amazing - very bumpy ride through jungle and bit of a treck so need to be a little fit!!

All in all great place .... going back to Delhi in Oct and backpacking the west coast - cant wait!!
