Having read some of the bad reviews the Sun Village was getting recently was really worried about the holiday. What on earth was every one moaning about? In the end I was pleasantly surprised as it was not awful we had a really good holiday. Ok the hotel is old fashioned and its not what we are used to but it had a charm of its own. We have to remember India is a third world country. Its more like a 3 star but very clean, stayed in hotels 100 times worse in Spain.
My only moan was the sink in the bathroom was a bit mildewed round the edges. Now I'm being fussy.
We had a top floor room looking over the pool with fantastic views. I was glad we decided not to upgrade rooms because everyone I spoke to was sorry as we had the better views.
The room was cleaned every day and towels and sheets changed constantly.
I really enjoyed the Indian food, you could have curry breakfast, dinner and tea if you wished. The staff where excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
Would recommend using the taxis outside the hotel for trips as it works out much cheaper than with the reps. Ask for driver called Jana as he was a lovely man and a very safe driver. Also spoke very good english and told us lots of useful information.
Very cheap to phone England from Goa, we used Sammys phone shop just outside hotel gate. Also you could change money in Sammys shop with a better rate than in the hotel. Say hello to Sammy and his wife Sneha as they are lovely and helpful.
Remember to take 100% deet, I only had 1 bite and usually I am covered. Had a really enjoyable holiday and will defintitely return one day.
