“Has maintained the doubletree class”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

It is a renovated property. But doubletree has managed to keep its simplicity and class. The cookie tastes the same and is yummmm .... The rooms are well kept. We were upgraded to a suit. The room, the living area, bathroom , it was all awesome .. absolutely in love with the place .. will consider going again .. only drawback is distance from beach .. but they have shuttles .. overall i loved it ..

Room Tip: Eat out ...

The disappointment began right from the time we checked into the hotel... Or should i say even earlier !! the entrance is not that great for something like a 5 star hotel.... the reception lobby is warm since it does not have a closing glass door at the entrance and hence it cant be cooled with air conditioners and they have not thought about an alternative for cooling this section down.... so you sweat while you wait....

We were 6 of us and had booked 2 rooms under triple occupancy each and the bookings were done well in advance.... but to add to our frustration we found out that the third person would have to accommodate himself on a sofa bed....the bookings were specifically done as triple occupancy and not rooms with an extra bed.... and after refusing to make do with what they had to offer, they put in a proper single bed...

The bathrooms only had two towels, one bath robe and only one napkin, with no dental kit nor grooming kit and worst even, it didn't have a had jet spray (which made us felt unwelcoming in our own country), which forced us to use tissues and on demanding them to shift us to a room with a jet spray we were given buckets and tumblers (and u call yourself a five star hotel).

The electricals of one of our rooms were with defects, constant flickering of lights, recurring blackouts, the privacy mode stayed on forever. All this was communicated to the front office but all in vein. No sense of urgency, nor any willingness to serve its guests. Even after all this we were not shifted to another room. Instead an electrician was sent to fix this thing up while we were in the room and we had to stay without lights and AC for almost an hr. ( the electrician was sent on the 2nd day who cud not get the problem resolved and then again on the 3rd day).

The worst experience was the in room dining. Complete chaos while delivering the order to the room. The breakfast would take more than 45 minutes after the order being placed... this was a routine... even if the order contained tea and toasted bread.... Inadequate portions of butter & jam and non availability of brown bread and cheese, no sambar and chutney with uttapa (What sort of a five star hotel would say they are out of cheese and brown bread....ridiculous !!).

The staff is very lethargic and non responsive. We generally stay at the Resort Rio (amazing service standards, ambiance, food and location) and have realized that Double Tree was a mistake not to be repeated.

There are many other things (worth the mention) which i haven't mentioned, else i wouldn't have stopped.

Dear Mr Desai,
Greetings from Goa!
At the outset I take this opportunity to thank you for giving us your valued feedback.
In fact I called and spoke to Mr Sudip Gupta (part of your group staying at our hotel) to take further details for the disservice at out property on 30th October itself.
Me and my team have understood in detail as to what exactly were the points where we did not meet your expectations and have taken and will continue to take necessary steps to ensure non-repeatance in future.
I also request you to give us another opportunity to have you back at our hotel to display the improvements and positive changes that we are incorporating in our people, process and product to make all are guests have a comfortable and worhwhile stay.
I am sanguine that you will see a marked improvement in our services the next time around and once again take this opportunity to thank you for your valued time.

We staryed at doubletree in October on a office trip. The hotel grows on you. When I got there, we thought little of the hotel. But as we stepped in, a group of about 40, I was surprised. it has a goa-feel to it, as against a typical hotel / urban feel.

The welcome cookie (choclate chip) was superb ! it was a warm welcome !!!! we were all really hungry and the cookie brought in excitement and joy.

The check-in for the group was immediate and they gave us rooms at 8:30 AM instead of the usual 2 PM or noon.also, the check-in was smooth - smoother than Taj in Goa for sure.

The food is great. especially, if you are a vegeterian. the buffets had variety and the waiters were attentive.

The only drawback is the hotel is far from the beach and you will need to rent a bike / car. but the hotel has good view. there is greenery around and there is a pond / lake.. so some of the rooms had a really nice, serene view.

Rooms are well-sized and clean. nothing outstanding, but well above average. balconies are a bonus with each room.

Overall, the staff was very unobtrusive yet very helpful and friendly. would definitely recommend this hotel for large groups. and if you know to ride a bike, you can rent one from a shop right outside the hotel. Britto's is a 15 minutes bike ride away.

So, while we went with low expectations, we came back really happy. the hotel grows on you, especially the Lobby. we would sit for hours on the comfortable sofas and chat...

overall an amazing stay!

Room Tip: Go in for ground floor rooms with balcony, facing the lake / pond. if these are not available, you c...

I stayed in this hotel recently & the experience was very good. Nice place to visit with family as well as with friends. They welcome you with their signature cookie and it is just awesome. Hotel is located in between anjuna and baga beach, both are 10min away from the hotel if you travel by vehicle. And popular saturday market is just opposite of the hotel. Rooms are good, they were neat and clean, interiors and lightning arrangement of the room is good. Staff of the hotel is also friendly and helpful. Food quality in the buffet is average, if you are a seafood lover, there are not many seafood option in the buffet menu. But the breakfast menu is excellent. Overall it was nice experience.

Basically this is a 3-star hotel charging 10,000 rupees a night. It is inferior to all the hotels I stayed in Goa on many fronts

- reception staff are not helpful
- the rooms are not 5-star
- swimming pool is not inviting
- location is in the middle of nowhere
- food is average
- internet is a joke and unreliable
- the gym is too small
- business centre equipment is unreliable

Room Tip: Go to another hotel - Rio Resort is not too far

Went to this hotel with wife for a weekend travel. having been to the doubletree hotels in the US, it was not a disappointment . . . They have maintained their brand and the class. I got a suite and the interiors was superb. Not to forget the "cookie" .... the doubletree signature ... Overall, an amazing stay. I liked it !!

My first stay at a Double tree. This hotel is in a transition period being recently acquied by Hilton.Guests should pay heed to this.

The rooms are good and very clean..with an excellent lighting console.....the toilet is a wee bit small....All rooms have a balcony facing either the swimming pool or the lagoon. I guess that i would have preferred a lagoon view.....loved seeing the rain drizzle over the lagoon as well as observed the tide movements over the lagoon waters (from the dining).Cooling is excellent.I was surprised almost every morn by the intricate towel art in the room! The whole structure feels nice and open and airy with the sun shining through as you walk the verandas or corridors. I felt very secure here..cos even when i was walkin around late night....the security was around and about, alert but gentle.

Swimming pool is clean and well maintaned. There is a salon and fitness centre whch I didnt avail of.
The staff is excellent, warm and so obliging...HH members may not find here the regular infrastructure but be patient..ask ...and you shall receive!!!just as I did!
Had all my meals at the hotel in Flame restaurant. Though the menu is minimal....approach the F&B manager or Executive chef or CDB...and you could have almost whatever you desire!!! The continental food was excellent, to say the least...topped with smiling, caring stewards....I felt very pampered and cared for!!!!... luxury in these days! Fresh juice is good and the chocolate muffin IRRESISTIBLE!!
It was a noteworthy gesture on the part of Gm to come around and greet...a quality indeed very rare.....and that I guess is an example for the staff to be so hospitable.....from reservations and front office to kitchen.

This resort will be a great place to stay during the season with Goa's satuday night market..just opp the hotel..so is Go-Karting and water world.with all the frolic around but intense security on the premises.

The whole place and environmet is so peaceful, serene and a great place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of life yet the happening places are easily reachable by the complimentary shuttle.
Highly recommend this property and I will definitely use this as my unwind spot.

Room Tip: Lagoon view for thinkers and romantics
