2. Tito's, Mambo's and Cafe Capetown: The best pubs and bars in the entire Goa just a couple of minutes ride from the property.

Served by: Durgesh (A very courteous chap)

This was my 1st trip to Goa and was planned in a rush. Booked the hotel online just the same day as we travelled. All we knew was that we have to stay in Goa and we followed our instinct with Resort Rio and eventually just made the right decision..
If you are not fussed about staying right on the beach, this property might be an amazing option.

The property is fairly new with all the modern amenities. It's nestled in a peaceful location, yet not too far from the vibrant Colors of Goa.
I rented a Bullet 500 classic and discovered almost each place in North Goa, but couldn't find a property as luxurious as this one anywhere.
The service was awesome, especially by a staff member called Durgesh, he was courteous and prompt with any query.
The best part of the property is its rooms, especially the Luxury Deluxe rooms (the name is justified) and the suites. Each room has a very big balcony with a private sit out and beautiful views of the hotel's pool and the Baga lake.
The pool is fairly big and they serve some amazing cocktails at the pool bar.

The minibar was good and the prices were fairly reasonable.

I must say that the food in the restaurants was fabulous.

The location is perfect if you are planning to rent a bike or a car.

And always recommended to request the lake view rooms on the higher floors. If not available, you might as well request the pool view rooms.

After the 1st trip in May we had a second chance to visit Goa in August. A few friends of mine had booked The Park Goa this time, the property was at an amazing location and was overlooking the sea. But, the service and the rooms were pathetic.
We then decided to check out of the hotel the netxt day and I convinced everyone to go for Rio resort.

I spoke to Durgesh again and he arranged 6 rooms for us at a fairly reasonable cost, and each of our group member was glad to be at the resort. No one minded staying a little away from the beach since hey found the property up to the mark.

It's a resort for every age group and would match everyone's taste.

If planning to go to North Goa, go to this resort on my recommendation and you'd fall in love with the place..

Be there to have the time of your life!

Room Tip: Go for a Lake View room or a pool view room on a higher floor. If you are wiling to spend a little...

We vacationed at Rio in Nov'12 and since it was our first visit to Goa , I had wanted it to be special. When my travel agent didn't come up with any attractive options in north Goa ( some were way too expensive and some quite dismal) I came across Rio on the net and saw the reviews on trip advisor. I was impressed from the word go, not just due to the good reviews but the fact that each review, positive or negative, had been replied to. I called the hotel directly and fortunately my call was taken by the very warm and friendly Durgesh. He was quick to respond with some good options, Sebi at the front desk was also extremely helpful and went out of his way to coordinate. The drive from the airports was v pleasant, and the driver v friendly. The hotel itself was located away from the mad rush of the beach on the quite banks of Baga river and the ambience was great. Check in was very quick and comfortable and our one bedroom apartment very spacious, which worked out v well for the kids. A bit of a problem next morning could have well ruined our day but all thanks to Anjali, the manager at the front office, it turned out to be a great one. she was so thoughtful and helping throughout our stay that the holiday did become special. The resort is spread over a huge area and had several types of accomodation on offer, the ambience is very warm and la lot of green area makes surroundings very beautiful. Pool games in the morning with some rocking live music at the pool bar, activities for kids, good live band at the dinner time , the kids play room... All these make for a really great family holiday experience. A meal at Jalsa, the veg restaurant at Rio is a must, never tasted such rajasthni/ gujrati food :) it's a good idea to hire cabs from the hotel since drivers outside are not v courteous....would surely go back to Rio on my next visit to Goa! Thanx Durgesh and thank you Anjali once again :)

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with my boyfriend in August 2012. This hotel was okay overall. I would have been fine with it if it had been rated 3 stars. I stayed in several 5 star resorts in Goa and the Resort Rio is EXTREMELY sub par. The rooms are quite run down. Bathrooms are in need a a major update. The pool is tiny for the amount of rooms at the hotel. We were there during Monsoon in August so the hotel was not even close to capacity - yet the pool was always full. And they only had a handful of lounge chairs around it... there was NEVER one available. One afternoon they were serving pizza at the pool bar. There were little children eating pizza in the pool. It was quite disgusting as you can imagine.

The food at the buffet restaurant was mediocre. But once again, it was at capacity during breakfast. I don't know how they feed everyone there during the tourist season. One huge plus is that the staff at the restaurant are FANTASTIC. So friendly and helpful - both the hosts, servers, and even the cooks! We made friends with a lot of the staff here.

The beach is quite far from the hotel. We rented a scooter and it was about a ten minute drive to the beach. It is a nice, scenic drive however!

We also got a couples massage at the spa. It was a pretty good massage but the spa facilities are nothing special.

Overall, this hotel left much to be desired and we will definitely not be returning to Resort Rio.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying at our 5 Star Deluxe Resort !

We refer your comments on the serving of pizzas at the pool side bar and of the children eating the same in the pool - which indeed is not allowed and the management strictly abides with the rules.

Your stay with us was in August `2012 - we do have made amends in all areas of our operations ,including the spa to ensure that all our guests have `The Time Of Their Lives at Resort Rio`

We do hope you give us another opportunity to serve you once again to see the difference your feedback has made.

Warm regards,

Benedict D`souza - Director Sales & Marketing.

The front desk is a shame and does nothing to make you comfortable . The serving staff is courteous but the management needs some lessons in how not be high handed and stupid at the same time. The rooms are certainly above average but the service and frequent electricity issues kill the deal for me

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying with us.Have shared your comments with our team members .....we surely have the best rooms, courteous service by our serving staff as mentioned by you ,and this cannot be justified without a high handed management support!

With regards to your comment on frequent electricity issues does not hold true as we do have a back up generator which takes the entire load of the resort and comes on within a minute in case of power failure.

Warm regards,

Our air conditioning went flap flap flap for some reason instead of a low whirr. Maintenance arrived promptly and discovered a clogged air filter that had obviously not been cleaned in some time. I could not see my hand through the lint. Both my partner and I got scalded when a faulty valve in the shower switched to hot rather than the temp we had chosen - two separate instances. When maintenance was sent they could find nothing wrong (we guess they didn't wait long enough or were dressed!!) To a newcomer the separate buildings are a maze - need more signage or art works to help get bearings - or perhaps a little map?

Room Tip: be sure to see the room before you accept it. All three rooms we were shown were set up with the si...

Lovely room .Beds large and comfy. Bathroom is spotless and excellent shower .Nice touches like mozzy plug ins by the bed. Some areas in the bedroom are grubby such as the cream chairs and sofa.We had the deluxe room.
Pool area nice as is the pool .
Staff lovely ..they wave and smile .BUT ........The noise ! Oh my goodness music blasts out from the pool area .Whilst we have been here they have had two weddings and three conferences .We did have a room that overlooked the pool the music was so loud it almost shakes the room .We asked to be moved ..it was no problem . Sadly some of the guests at the weddings and other functions are just so rude ..shouting and singing until 3 am with not a care for other guests , this is also a big let down by the management as they didn't ask them to shut up ! Good job we packed ear plugs !
Really I think that this hotel will loose any Western guests are they are only concerned with weddings etc
One other note today we can't use the pool are as there is a wedding but can sit by a tiny pool at the other side of the hotel ,
The breakfast was just chaos ,so busy and children running around dangerously .We went once in two weeks !

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking small pool .
