“A precious treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

It will be difficult to describe our experience in words, we recently got married at Hawksmoor House and to sum it up our experience was majestically. A big thank you to Kirsten and her team, they made our experience memorable and magical in every way possible, everything was perfectly executed from the catering to the service. The team were very hospitable during our stay and made us all feel part of one big family, like us our guests were in awe . All the rooms are unique and breathtaking! The house gives you a modern yet antique feel. We highly recommend staying in this 300 year old house, a piece of treasure hidden in Stellenbosch, Cape Town. We look forward to our next visit :)

We stayed at Hawksmoor for a wedding and although we were a small group, the whole place was blocked out for us, which made it feel very intimate and more special. We felt like we were at home. Kirsten and her team are hands on, yet never invading. I think they even arrange the stunning sunsets for their guests ...! Everything is so cosy and relaxing. The views are stunning (lovely view of table mountain) and the absence of TV gives you the opportunity to switch off and relax. Hawksmoor is barely 15km from Stellenbosch, with the wine route starting virtually from your doorstep. Don't forget to try out the Hawksmoor wine while you're there.
A little piece of paradis on earth!

A fabulous old mansion, to which you are welcomed like a valued house guest. Tea and cakes are made for you on arrival and enormous care is taken by the management to make your stay as good as possible. Perfect for relaxation, and ideally situated for a visit to the winelands, and nearby Stellenbosch and Franschoek. Might be a bit remote for a winter visit, and being surrounded by so many valuable antiques has one one tenterhooks !

We stayed at Hawksmoor house for a week in March and absolutely loved it. The staff are so friendly and helpful, with dinner recommendations, places to visit etc. And amazing breakfasts - lots of fresh fruit and great views of table mountain. And we love dogs so the friendly dogs are a bonus. This place attracts really nice guests too, so we enjoyed having breakfast with everybody, and one evening we ended up drinking wine with one of the owners after a wine tasting earlier in the day - it's just a lovely place to stay. Great location, close to the vineyards and also close enough to Cape Town (around a 30 min drive depending on traffic) - but having previously stayed in the city centre in Cape Town we really enjoyed coming back to the countryside each evening, its so quiet and relaxing. Highly recommend it if you like a friendly small home away from home rather than a big hotel. On the owners recommendation, one day we had lunch at Cafe Bon Bon vineyard near Franschoek and it was fantastic. Thanks for a great stay.

Incredible boutique homestead stay that offers such a lifestyle change to hotel accommodation. Centrally located between Western Cape wine region. Gorgeous, spacious rooms & impeccable service. Extremely well appointed rooms with all holiday stay needs covered. One of my favourite stays away from home, just due to the completely unique accommodation setting.
Very highly recommended.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the kitchen & dining room. Fairly noisy in the mornings, when breakfast...

I am delighted I found Hawksmoor! It is a great location from which to explore the wine region; staff were incredibly helpful with suggestions/bookings for restaurants and other vineyards to visit. The wine-tasting at Hawksmoor was the best I had of four that I did. The house is set beautifully at the end of a long drive with a pool and terrace facing Table Mountain. The house is a perfect country house - full of antiques but not so big that it's austere. The gardens are beautiful too, the scent of lavender abounds and there are hundreds-of-years-old oak trees around. Great breakfasts too!
