“Traditional Reformed icon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

The outside is so beautiful - crisp white walls and the typical style. You can take awesome pictures. Inside it is not like European churches, and international visitors could feel disappointed. Remember that this and other churches were build from the very conservative perspective and limited resources of the Afrikaner communities. The word is most important therefore you will see the pulpit at the centre. There are also a number of other buildings and things to see in the vicinity like the large trees and the university buildings and the water canals next to the streets.

“Nice to have seen!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

This church looks very nice from the outside. The inside is pretty much like most (all) the reformed churches around. The focus is on the word, thats why it is very little art inside these churches.

“Beautiful Little Church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

We were drawn to this church by the beautiful outside. A young man working at the chruch left us in to see the beatiful timber inside with lovely windows. When in Stellenbosch make sure to stop in and see this part of history. The young man was very proud of the church and you will see why.

“In touch with the history of Stellenbosch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

My husband and I attend services of worship, weddings and funerals from time to time in this beautiful church which is such an integral part of Stellenbosch. The church is steeped in the history of the Cape - with its beautiful stained glass windows. The pipe organ - played by a superbly accomplished organist - adds reverence to the services of worship. The church bells have a history of their own - and in latter years carefully selected by a group of passionate musicians. There is no cost involved in attending a service of worship - provided one is familiar with Afrikaans.
A visit to Stellenbosch should include leaving footsteps on this hallowed ground!

“lovely church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2008

There is close to the Village museum a traditional Dutch reform church, Very attractive from the outside ,completely white in appearance , it is open for visitors .A member of the congregation will take you around and explain the history of the church and the traditions of the Dutch Reform movement.
It has some very modern beautifully designed stained glass windows but interestingly while from the inside they appear to be leaded in fact they are held in place by a type of concrete which when you go round the outside is very apparent.
The furniture is all traditional wood.
