“Delicious pizza's but service shaky”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

This review is written after 3 visits (lunch & dinner) over the last few months with different groups of friends. The menu is small but the food is absolutely divine, from the salads and pizza's to the sweets. Likewise the setting is beautiful and great care has been taken not to disturb the landscape of the majestic Devon Valley. If it is a long leisurely lunch or dinner you are after, and you do not mind waiting for ever, this place is definitely for you, but on 2 of the 3 occasions that I have been there as the hostess I have been severely embarassed by the lack of service - waiting for 15 minutes for someone to take a drinks order simply isn't on - at times the waiters and waitresses try to assist one another but they simply don't get to all their clients as the place is just too busy. Once the food orders are taken, the food arrives promptly and there seem to be many staff serving the tables so maybe additional training would be all that is required (the restaurant also only opened a few months ago) and it would make this a perfect venue for a Sunday lunch with family & friends.

Hi Estelle,

Thank you once again for your feedback.

I was lovely to meet you earlier this month at Café Blanc de Noir with you with our family once again.
As discussed - we appreciated your personal feedback & have focused on our involvement with the waitresses & a finer attention to service details. We hope that you found our timing, service & atmosphere more than satisfactory.

We look forward to your next review on Trip Advisor.

Kind regards,
Brenaissance Management

“Nice light snack after long day of wine tasting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

Went their just after they first opened. Had quite a few tasting before that.

My wife loved the Sauvignon Blanc. I liked the Cured meat and avo pizza. Very nice.

My wife did not really enjoy the chef's special for the day, quite average chicken wrap.

We were over charged for a wine tasting we never had. Was a bit forced on to us.

Plus we did buy wine.

Would have been nice not to be charged for a full tasting when you only had two sips.

But none the less. The waitress was very attentive, and the food and ambiance relaxed.

Room Tip: It does get very hot there in summer, so where short and light clothing.

“Something very different”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

I heard al lot about this new restaurant and I must say the concept is different and new. Kids will love the space to play, the wine is good and the pizza interesting, parma ham and biltong nice. One strange thing, the red wine was served much to cold. The concept is great but please do something about the service!! Waiting 40 min for wine to be served puts a damper on the experience!

“A definite stop on your way to or from JC le Roux!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013 via mobile

we stopped at Brenaissance after they were recommended while at JC le Roux. Only about 200m from the entrance to JC, this tasting room/pizza / beer spot opened in December 2012. Brennaissance has been growing grapes for a few decades now for other winemakers but in the last three years had begun to bottle their own estate vintages. at this tasting bar, go for the six varietal, chocolate and biltong at R50 each - amazing. great format here in that you grab a seat on the deck, relax and the wines are brought out to two at a time. this giving you time to hear the backstory on each label as well as taste.

a great stop, highly recommended while you're in Stellenbosch !
