We stayed here for 2 nights last week, and were a bit disappointed. The website focuses on the very impressive old Dutch colonial hall in the grounds, which first attracted us to the place. After a long drive out of Stellenbosch through what looked like a rubbish dump however, we arrived at Brenaissance to discover that in fact, most of the structure is in fact brand new, not like the hall.
Our room was very large and clean, but felt a bit empty as space wasn't well used. There was no fridge or minibar, which would have been useful, since the tapwater is brown and we were told it was unsafe for drinking.
We were also irritated that, having been marketed as a B&B, there is in fact no breakfast available. As Stellenbosch town is a 15-minute drive away, this was a nuisance.
I would echo other reviews commenting on security. In a country as security-minded as South Africa, it was noticeable that Brenaissance has no guards, fences or visible alarms. The safe in our room also didn't work. This left us a bit uneasy and stands out negatively vs. all our other accommodation in the country.
Staff were reasonably friendly but are not on site after 5pm.
The restaurant was very noisy but I will say that the pizzas were very good.
There was nothing intrinsically bad about the place, but enough to leave a feeling of dissatisfaction and having spent a while in the area, I wouldn't recommend.
