“Lovely setting for unch or summer dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

Very pretty outdoor setting under trees and next to river. Unfortunately the food is not amazing but it is worth going for a meal.

“Great setting, poor food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

We had dinner at the Oewer a couple of years ago, and were very happy then: a romantic setting under the oaktree, and a fine dinner. The setting has not changed, it is still a very lovely place, Yet the cuisine in 2014 is a bit of a disappointment. The main course was of dubious quality - lucky for us that the portions were rather small. The dessert however was excellent, as was the accompanying wine advise.

“Lovely setting, attentive staff, relaxing atmosphere...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

Our group had lunch at De Oewer during our all day wine tour. The setting was lovely and most relaxing with the stream nearby. We enjoyed a good meal served by a very attentive staff. The weather was perfect so the patio setting was a welcome stop.

“Terrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

Good relaxed atmosphere; nice setting ... horrible food. Should rather have stayed at home and gone hungry - TripAdvisor should now have a rating if 0 food.

“Good service marred by bad inferior food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

We picked De Oewer for its location, right next to the Eersterivier. A beautiful setting. Our server was very friendly and provided prompt and efficient service. The only pity was that the food was disappointing. Two of our party ordered the duck, and when complaining that it was tough, was given the excuse that they should have given us steak knives! A fly fell into a glass of wine, and they only offered to take away the tainted wine - but no replacement. I ordered a large serving of baby calamari (looked more like squid) as a main course, and it looked more like an appetizer in size, certainly not an entree. The mint leaves with the chocolate moose had aphids on them. Attention to detail and care to deliver well prepared meals were seriously lacking at this restaurant.
