We visited at 4 pm and our order was taken immediately. After 30 minutes we noticed that many others around us had been served, though they arrived after. Worried that our order had been mislaid we asked and it had. More than 20 minutes more passed before we asked again. Apparently this time the printer had broken! Our waitress had disappeared so we asked another waiter if we could have some complimentary bread while we waited. That was impossible he said. He'd ask the manager but the manager was on his mobile and apparently couldn't be disturbed.
After a further 15 mins wait we got up and left, leaving money for the water we'd drunk. The manager then finally appeared. We explained that we'd been waiting over an hour, and bearing in mind this was now 5pm so they were still not busy, we were hungry and fed up. The manager showed no sympathy, offered no kind of discount as a gesture of goodwill. Instead he asked who our server was, presumably so he could discipline them. No word of apology. We left.
A shame. The pizzas looked tasty, which is why I haven't given just 1 star.
Mistakes happen, but it was the total lack of any attempt to apologise or make amends that upset us. A really poor experience and not at all representative of the excellent service everywhere else we've been in Stellenbosch. Avoid.
