Let's start by mentioning that my husband works close by and he often purchases petit poussins from here for us. In addition, he favours this restaurant as a morning meeting spot once a week, so I was curious to go there when my son had a craving for an egg benedict the other day. With both my son and I being intolerant to wheat, I am often wary of reastaurant breakfasts, as a breakfast with no bread kind of defies the purpose for me. Much to my surprise, they had 100 percent rye bread, so already they got a nod from me. Breakfast was great (although the rye was toasted a bit too hard on the edges, but I can overlook that on my first visit). The service was good- not outstanding, but friendly, and as it was a relaxed Saturday morning, we were not in a hurry. The Salmon surprise on rye was lovelly and a very large portion, beautifully presented. My son and husband loved their eggs benedict and even had space for some of my salmon as the portion was just too large for me to finish. I will definitely go back for the food and give them a chance to get the rye toasted correctly and brought to the table at the same time as the other plates of food. As for the emporium- loved it. The most interesting jars filled with the most divine ingredients. Love the presentation, the look and feel of the store. They stock produce such as fresh mussels, rock lobster, caviar, snails, smoked meat products, quails, free range ducks, pigeons, rabbits, truffels, olive oils, french cheeses and Spanish Air dried meats. A food-lovers dream! So at this point in time, my 'excellent' rating is for the emporium and I hope soon, for the restaurant as well, as I will be going back.
